Designer: Damian Kozlik
Straight out of Poland, Damian Kozlik has designed an interesting if not confusing timepiece dubbed “X-Watch”. His attempt at a universal time piece able to be used by sighted and the blind is a step in the right direction. Not sure if X marks the right spot on this one but his rubber strap housing carries an array of LEDs behind graduated glass with extruded braille numbers that chris-cross to highlight and center the correct time. Seems like a lot of acrobatics just to tell time, but maybe life is truly in the journey and not the destination… even when counting the hours. If you ask for more details, our heads may explode. This was a hard one to figure out…let it go.

How blind people can use it? It’s simple. It’s just to move a finger along the graduated watch glass. There are extruded Braille numbers. When a person touches highlighted panel hears a sound.

How it works? Every segment of the watch glass works like separated touch switch. There are two solutions possible:

1. Every panel works like capacitance touch switch. It needs only one electrode to function. The electrode can be placed behind a panel. It works using body capacitance. When a person touches it, it increases the capacitance and triggers the sound.

2. Every panel works like resistance touch switch. This solution needs metal units to function. There are two thin pieces of metal on the each panel. It works by lowering the resistance between them. It is much simpler in construction compared to the first solution. Placing a finger across the metal units achieves a turn on the sound. Removing the finger from the metal pieces turns the sound off.

Today, I’m posting about something near and dear to my heart . . . vision. You see, my Dad has macular degeneration, so I’ve seen the impact it can have on a person’s life. Sadly, this condition has rendered him close to blind.

Understanding loss of vision and its impact is a key to success with the mature market. Vision, or lack of, should be a key consideration for everything from your advertising design to your product design (take a look at this article to see some companies that are getting it right: wall-street-journal-designing-for-the-senior-set) I’ve seen some simple mistakes that major companies are making that are easily knocking down advertising response by over 50%.

About 35 million Americans age 40 and older, have an age-related eye disease such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataract, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. That number is expected to grow to 50 million by 2020.

So it’s a great day. I finish a few chores at home and set out for work. Exactly after the adyar bridge, a moron in a caliber rams into my rear right indicator. No damage done. But I swear at the feg. Riding on.. jus before CP ramaswamy road, a moron on a splendor <ahead of me> leans over to ejaculate.. sorry.. spit some pan coated phlegm sprinkled with betel nuts <to act as shrapnel>. I successfully avoid the concoction and start honking <wish that button was a trigger that would launch depleted uranium rounds at him>. As he turns back and says sorry, I swear at him wishing he would drop dead.

Next is something that we all must be going thru everyday. Moron’s who never dip their light, who always ride in high beam, who use fog lamps as a status symbol rather than its purpose. And those useless ACTIVA lkb’s who have a lighthouse instead of a headlamp. <u assole, the light is for the road so that u can see, its not for blinding my eyes>. This defect can never be rectified. No one considers another human’s eye balls and their vision as something not to play with. Baah!! Even friends don consider. All of us are full of shit but no fart. Next time ur riding, try not to spit <road’s not some huge tar coated wash basin U fegs!!>, try and avoid high beam. You maybe a super sexy driver and road rash pro, but please understand that if u blind me… Well nothing, ill curse under my breath and carry on..

Sometimes you can see reality when others you are blind. When hallucinating, the people are as real

Sometimes you can see reality when others you are blind. When hallucinating, the people are as real as the room I'm in and the sounds are equally as real. Recently everything has begun to link together. I've gone on about the weather before, how it fits with my mood. Rain ↑ = hypomanic. Rain down ↓ = depression. Rain ↑&↓ = mixed. Though this is not in the Seasonal Affective sort of way. I'm a rain lover, a sunshine hater, mood and weather are just connected somehow.

Today was a blustery, windy and angry day. Most of my morning was spent sat out on the school field "watching" sports day. Compulsory of course, or I wouldn't of been there. I wouldn't of even got out of bed this morning if it wasn't so bloody "compulsory". My life is controlled by everyone around me but in a low key, irritating sort of way. Nothing is being done, but it's got to keep being done whatever it may be. I have to haul myself out of bed in the morning for fear of my parents dragging me out of bed, pinning me down and seeing my scars. If not this, then the guilt. If I don't go to college, then it makes it all the more evident that I'm a failure. If I don't get out of bed, then it means they need to worry. If they worry then I won't be allowed to stay in my room which is the best place for me sometimes. What sort of daughter am I.

Earlier when I was watching Hollyoaks and Jack was attempting suicide (sorry I won't ruin the episode any further), I was also doing a crossword and there was two words next to each other "carrion" and "mad". How bloody apt. I've just seen the most irritating hair colour advert with the Bettie Davis song and at the same moment, someone with the msn name "She's pure as Newyork snow" came online. I don't quite know what the latter means yet but these aren't just coincidences. I'm not an idiot or mad harping on about all these connections, they're real. And while saying this, at the moment I know that's me just being stupid but at other times, these links and jigsaw pieces are just like the sights and sounds I see. Ironic thing - I spend alot of my time doing online jigsaws when my head is too noisy. Jigsaws. Everything's beginning to fit. I like patterns and I like order, straight lines, very straight lines, but I don't know what to make of it all. I've been blind all this time. It scares me.

Jack's attempt and recent others have made me think about my options even more. I'm not saying that they've made me suicidal, my death entangles itself with my daily thoughts regardless of outside factors, it's just so blatant. In my face. Everything just say's "do it". Another sign. I can't deny them forever.

Update on the boyfriend front. He's going down to Anglesey for the weekend a load of mates - including the prettier ex. Funny how I never get invited to these things. Further proves the theory of embarrassment. More paranoia?

On that note, I'm worried my parents have found my blog. Someone searched "eccedentesiast" to find me. I'm worried that while I've been typing away (I spend half my life on this laptop but it also means that I have to spend time with the family), that they might of caught sight of the title and tried to find me. Found me. If they have I wish they'd tell me. Obviously this would be deleted. Though I'm sure if they've read there would be chaos here. Care plans and psych recommendations into action. Phone calls to the hospital and trips to A&E no doubt, all for my (unwanted) safety of course.

I've tried a number of different RSS readers & found this NewsGator/FeedDemon one to be the best so far, at least in my opinion. It even sync's with an online NewsGator account that the setup wizard helps you establish so you can access your feeds if you're away from home. If you're looking for a good RSS Reader maybe give it a try. For a free download Click Here

Greetings, in past articles I have stated that it is my belief that I, perhaps am (at least I feel that I am) an example of a person made, by God for dishonor even though I try to live as honorably as I can. Today I wish to provide an insight into what I mean by a person who is made to be a dishonor. For that I will ask that you turn to scripture in the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament verse 8:14 where we are given what I believe a person made unto dishonor is:

“There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.” Ecclesiastes 8:14.

This verse is brought to life in the New Testament when Jesus confronts a man who was born blind and is asked by his disciples “who has sinned, this man or his parents” and Jesus responds:

“Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” John 9:2.

Likewise, I was born and lived a life in which I was blind to the truths of this world and lived according to those who are blind to the truth and knowledge of God. Yet God has used my life to show that even those of us who are born and living such a life are useful to his purposes. My knowing that I have been and am being used by God to bring about a message to others and knowing that even though I have tried to live honorably and have failed (as I tried to accomplish honor on my own), I take comfort in knowing that there is yet hope for myself and for all those others who were also born as I. I obtain this comfort from Old Testament scripture which tells me:

“Though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that know God, which understand his ways: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he does not know nor understand God.” Ecclesiastes 8:12-13.

This is not to say that I take comfort in knowing that those who perpetuate evil will be punished or that those who do good will be compensated rather I take comfort in the knowledge that I can now succeed in living a life of honor going forward because now I have a knowledge and understanding of God and have seen the work he has performed in my life.

I do not know when or how I will be provided justice yet I know that I shall be provided justice at a point and time appointed by God. To that end I have come to a decision in what direction I want my life to go and know of a certainty that God is guiding my steps in that direction. And while I still feel the sting of those who would perform evil toward me I stand in the knowledge that God will use that evil for good in my life for I am told:

“But as for you, your thought evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore, fear not: I will nourish you, and your little ones.” Genesis 50:20-21.

Then again:

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, who he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:28-31.

Well, I will end here with the prayer that I have provided hope to those who also are in the same situation as I have been. May love and peace be yours always, amen.

After copycat, here I share another idea on the lines of ‘copying’ what has worked well

After copycat, here I share another idea on the lines of 'copying' what has worked well somewhere.

I have been thinking on this ever since I read about 'Guide dogs' ...

Can the Indian Pariahs (the stray dogs found in abundance on every nook and corner) be subjected to rigourous training as a 'guide dog'? If yes, then they can be such a boon in helping few of the 15 million Indians who are blind!!

(Whether the concept of 'guide dog' can work in Indian conditions is a tricky question though. If you do not know what I mean then you are too lucky to have missed the experience of Indian traffic :-) )

I have sent an email to Daisy of Welfare of Stray Dogs society to know her views however I have not yet heard back. So, I thought of sharing it here and see if word-of-mouth (or click-of-mouse) makes this idea reach her :-)

PS: Do I need to mention this is not a 'business' idea? I keep thinking about possibilities of solving common problems that are around us (and all of them are not about money :-) )

Of all the music artists I’ve listened to, none even compare in the art of subliminal messages

Of all the music artists I've listened to, none even compare in the art of subliminal messages than Linkin Park. Not only that, but the amount of wisdom and philosophy tucked under the hood of their songs is awe-inspiring- at least for me. I believe that the Bible is intended not as a manual to living life, but to understanding why we live life the way we do. To understand the Bible, you must realize that it does not matter how things turn out ultimately (the ends), or even what our intentions were (the means)- Both of these are irrelevant. What truly matters is that we understand why we live life the way we do- the Bible helps us understand this, but what really makes it unique- and what makes Linkin Park unique, is that the more that you read it, and relate it to your own perception, the more you can learn from it. In particular, Linkin Park's song "Forgotten" has the most meaning of any of their songs (to me), and the translation found in "Reanimation" actually leaves even more meaning behind. So this is the 3rd post I've had that's a homage to "Forgotten", and the title is actually one of the lines in that song:

("Then with the eyes shut / looking through the rust and rot and dust / a small spot of light floods the floor | And pours over the rusted world of pretend | The eyes ease open and its dark again")

When people are in love, be it with God, some religion, google, or another human, many times- probably most times it starts with blind passion. The problem with blind passion though, is that if our perception of our object of desire changes even in the slightest, be it by change of information (i.e. "you were lying when you said you were rich?!?") change of priority (i.e. "I don't get the sex I 'need' from him/her") or just learning new information (i.e. "I'm having a baby")

When I was a Christian, and when I was in love, I really knew I was a Christian and in love. There was no doubt in my mind- I was on fire for Jesus and loved Elyse. But, in retrospect it was blind passion for both her and God. So the question is, "Was I really in love and a Christian"?

The answer is both true and false. In the present I was not, but in the past I was. In other words, the ability to look back gives us the ability to see things that no longer exist as if they did, because they exist in memory (which is also explained in "Forgotten"). We have all sorts of different realities, but the ones with which this post is especially concerned, is the realities of past, present, and future. That is, are the realities of past and future just as "real" as that which is right in front of us- the present?

I would say yes, and here's why: Because in the past I was in love, and was a Christian, I was able to learn and grow from it- after all, how would I know that it was "blind passion" now, unless I had matured? Even if I was blind, I still lived as if it was true, because I believed it to be. As long as we believe, it is true- it only is false if we believe it as such. As I explained in Id versus Ego, faith is a product of Id, naturally because Id's essence is blind desire/passion. No logic can convince a person driven by Id of anything, since Id is illogical. This knowledge has helped me understand human psychology and motivation a great deal- before I was constantly irritated by other's actions, because they were illogical. Now I know why. Id is still truth, just a different kind of truth. So logically, I wasn't a Christian and I wasn't in love, but I was illogically- no doubt about that.

Christians often cite the fact that people underwent so much persecution in the name of Jesus, and of Christianity. So much work was done, so much was sacrificed, so many lives given. So it must be true, right? Until now I have either suspended judgement, or discounted their actions as foolish. But while Christianity may be illogical in essence, it wasn't supposed to be any more than God is. So that claim, in its own right, is justified. However, it should be noted that it was, and is, true to Christians. It was true to me, but not anymore. The Bible however, does have some truth to me though.

I'll probably add to this later, but that's good enough for now...

So i hate blogging. It seems so pointless. You write what you’re thinking and then you

So i hate blogging. It seems so pointless. You write what you're thinking and then you're done. Maybe someone will read it. Maybe not. What is the reason? No one ever showed any interest in what's going on inside my mind.

I guess I'm writing for myself. I like to process my thoughts. It's so hard to figure out all my thoughts when they are jumbled up in my brain. When my thoughts are organized on paper in the form of words, everything seems to make sense. It's like the clouds opened out and I can finally see the color of the sky.

Have you ever wondered if what you know is right? Remember when you were younger and you believed that you could float to the ground holding an umbrella? Remember how many times you tried and you still were convinced that it was going to happen? Those days are the ones I miss so much. Everything was so simple. Nothing seemed impossible. The days went by so fast and you were always ready for the next one.

I was thinking earlier today and a memory popped into my head: I was five and like always, my mom was my hair cutter. So one day when she was trimming my bangs, I realized I didn't want bangs anymore. Of course me with five year old problem solving abilities thought it through. I told my mom that I wanted my bangs to be non-existent (in little kid vocabulary by the way). She replied that I would have to grow them out and that it would take months. I thought I knew a faster way. I insisted that she just cut them off at the roots. It made perfect sense to me. They wouldn't be there anymore. I was so mad because she kept telling me no. I couldn't understand why. A few years later, I realized why; those pieces of hair would grow out too and would be sticking out all over the place.

So my epiphany from that is: How much more do I think is right when it really isn't? How much more do I insist is the right way of doing things or thinking? How limited is my view of life? There is really no way I could possible know this. I learn new things everyday. I just learned last month how to drive. It's not at all like I thought it would be. There are so much more elements involved. I also learned that you don't "just learn", it's a process and you keep on learning.

That's why I like having God as my eyes for life. His view is the broadest it's ever gonna get. I can follow him because He isn't half blind like I am.

Once upon a time, a Brahmin named Yagnadatta lived in a city. He had a wife who was not trustworthy. She had a lover to whom she would secretly send every day delicious food she made. One day, her husband found out what she was doing.

He asked her, “My dear, you are making every day some special dish or the other and taking it out of the house. Tell me, what is the truth.”

With great presence of mind, she told Yagnadatta, “Every day I am fasting and taking this food to offer to the Goddess.” To allay suspicion, she collected food and telling her husband that she was leaving for the temple, left home. The husband began following her secretly and when she went to the tank to bathe, he went to the temple of the Goddess and hid behind the idol.

After taking bath in the tank, the Brahmin’s wife came to the temple from the tank and began praying the Goddess, “O mother, tell me how can I render my husband blind?”

The Brahmin, hiding behind the idol, changed his voice and said, “O great devotee, you feed your husband daily with good and delicious food. Very soon he will become blind.”

From then onwards, the wife began feeding her husband with delicacies. Soon, the Brahmin complained to the wife that he was not able to see clearly. The wife thought that the Goddess had at last fulfilled her desire.

Encouraged by the Brahmin’s blindness, his wife’s lover began visiting her without any fear. One day, Yagnadatta saw him and his wife together. The lover ignored him thinking the Brahmin was blind. Yagnadatta then thrashed the lover so hard that he died. The Brahmin then cut the nose of his wife.

He survives who anticipates a danger and acts to avert it, He who does not comes to grief.

Why 11 and not 10? Well...it's complicated but I think it's in the Americans with Disabilities Act somewhere. I get 11 automatically because I am in a wheelchair. Anyway, on with the list of People Who Are More Disabled Than I Am.

PS: I've got spina bifida, in case you are new to "Leaving Treadmarkz Across The Universe". Okay, here's the list, and in no particular order, because I didn't have the heart to place any higher emphasis on any of these people in comparison to the others.

1. People who find themselves using text message language in legal documents out of habit. (U no wut I mean?) These people just bug me and I wanted to put them on my list.

2. People who begin their fast food order with the word "gimme". Usually it's men, but not always. But regardless, I always wonder if they talk that way at home and what it gets them.

3. The two geniuses in the story at this link. Clearly human life means very little to them, and I don't want to make them out to be representational of their entire generation, so I won't, but I worry.

4. People who have a quote from one literary great or another to punctuate or sum up every conceivable real life situation they encounter.

5. Larry King, for two reasons that come to mind right off the bat:

I. He asked Paul McCartney if he ever wakes up in the morning and pinches himself.

II. He asked Ringo Starr "What's it like being an ex-Beatle?" Seriously

When is this guy going to retire?

6. People who walk up to the front door of the mall and press that little "Door Open" button with the little blue guy in the wheelchair on it, knowing full well that pressing that button will make getting the door open take about three times longer than it would to just walk up to it and fling that sucker open! Some people who are not in wheelchairs really need to empower themselves by using the physical abilities they have.

7. Jesse Jackson/Don Imus: These guys should have a "Saying Stupid Things In Public" contest. Not that this has anything to do with the conventional understanding of "disabled", but these guys clearly both have cloudy perception of common sense which holds them back, disables them.

8. This guy has more problems than I am qualified to discuss, not being a licensed therapist.

9. Anyone who puts all the energy of their youth into building up their bodies, at all costs to their mental, emotional and physical health, including the use of steroids. Jose Canseco, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire are good examples. These guys are all clearly unstable and willing to say anything that will allow them to continue their lifestyles. These people are like shooting stars and when they burn out, man, it's gone. They won't have anything left but a shell of a body with nothing upstairs to back it up. These four men were like the golden boys of Major League Baseball in the late 80s and they did well with it, but, all four ended their careers in disgrace.

10. People who spend more time figuring out what to call themselves than they do being themselves.

11. World leaders who use the word "nucular". I couldn't resist. I'm sorry.

THERE...how's that for self-righteousness!

"Do what you hate to do, so you can enjoy what you love."

The tasks we hate most are the very ones we put off doing. Get in the habit of doing what you dread. Delayed gratification is painful, yet it is the only way to experience the joy of accomplishment. Creating a comfort zone in procrastination is not comfortable at all. Dip your feet in the unknown -- there lies comfort.
