Dominic Monaghan (the guitar player from Driveshaft) scored a role opposite Freddy Rodriguez in the thriller Fortuna:

Set in 2100, “Fortuna” envisions an Earth where a collapsed economy and climate crises have eliminated the middle class, leaving a few very wealthy and the teeming masses in severe poverty. To give hope and avoid revolt, the elite create Fortuna, a mysterious game where one in a thousand wins a big payday and joins the upper classes. But their hidden goal to “reduce poverty” by 30% over 50 years comes with a deadly price tag.

Monaghan, Rodriguez and “Fortuna” writer-director Barthelemy Grossmann will play desperate men who play the game in a nearby tower, despite apprehensions that none of its contestants are ever seen again. The privately financed film begins a six-week shoot in Bulgaria next month.

I have nothing snide to say; this movie sounds pretty cool.

"I Sell the Dead" is the dark new horror comedy starring Dominic Monaghan and Ron Perlman. Part period-piece supernatural tale, part buddy comedy, the film is a refreshingly original treat for cult film fans! In 18th Century England, a young graverobber, played by Monaghan, finds himself condemned to death for his crimes, with only a priest (Perlman) for company for his last night before the gallows. Depois de Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) e Libby (Cynthia Watros), um novo personagem, morto nas anteriores temporadas, deve regressar para um episódio de Perdidos. E quem regressará é, nem mais nem menos do que Ana Lucia. A personagem é interpretada por Michelle Rodriguez e já não aparecia desde o vigésimo episódio da segunda temporada. Agora, segundo o colunista da EW Michael Ausiello, ela está de volta, com participação assegurada no segundo episódio da próxima temporada, provavelmente num flashback ou em forma de uma das alucinações de Hurley (Jorge Garcia).

Recorde-se que Ana Lucia foi morta por Michael (Harold Perrineau) tendo acontecido o mesmo a Libby. Na altura especulou-se que as duas personagens tiveram este fim porque os produtores da série não gostaram de ver as duas actrizes que as interpretavam em casos de condução sobre efeito de álcool. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Eko), que contracenava bastante com as actrizes, também viu a sua personagem removida da série, no entanto, esta mudança deveu-se ao facto do actor ter criado alguma tensão nos estúdios e pedir para sair do elenco. É neste momento o actor que os fãs mais anseiam rever.

Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan) has been known to make a cheeky little comment now and then. So, here is the first one that I detected, nicknames wise. It is in the episode " White Rabbit" (Season One) where he is talking to Claire ( Emilie de Ravin) about John Locke ( Terry O' Quinn) going out to find water for her and the other survivors. She is concerned about him being eaten by the Smoke Monster.

But Charlie thinks " that geezer with his 400 knives" is much scarier.

The Maven's Word of the Day states that " The earliest relevant sense of geezer is 'an old person (usu. a man), esp. one who is eccentric or offensive'. This sense, first recorded in 1885, is the only one in current use in America.

It is most likely that geezer represents a dialectal pronunciation of the earlier Scots word guiser 'a person who dresses in fantastic costumes; masquerader; mummer', derived from guise used as a verb meaning 'to dress fantasticaly'. This guiser was in reasonably frequent use from the fifteenth century onwards, and deriving geezer from it makes sense both phonetically and semantically. "

Locke a geezer? Chronologically mature (check), pecular (check), capricious (check) and clothed in garb reinforcing his "Hunter" complex (check). Sorry, John...*hug*

Speaking of check, still cannot figure out how Locke got his little silver Box o' Ginsus on the plane without having some serious connections. But with who? Let the speculation commence! ( Ron Popeil= Him? )

So since Tilia did her lovely celebrity comparison of Guitar Guy to Dominic Monaghan I thought I'd do my own on the men I've spoken about in previous posts.

First of all, I must concentrate on Kip, since I am missing him like crazy lately. His comparison is hands down the Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal, and not just because they have similar features, but because of their mannerisms, smile and style as well.

For those of you who don't immediately recognize Gael Garcia Bernal's picture, he's starred in many Indie films like The Motorcycle Diaries as Che Guevara, Y Tu Mamma Tambien, the racy Mexican hit about a threesome, his most famous role to date in the beautifully done Amores Perros, Michel Gondry's The Science of Sleepwhere he plays a sweet clueless Canadian who falls in love with Charlotte Gainsbourg and of course, where he plays a fucked up drag queen in Pedro Almodovar's Bad Education, as well as his latest appearance in the award winning Babel.

So basically if you haven't seen any of these films, you need to go watch them now. All of them. If only to feast your eyes on this gorgeous man.

First of all, Kip's eyes are big and brown like Bernal's, and their skin color is very similar as well. Their hair has a similar shall I say, 'bounce' to it, both thick and nice to run through with your fingers. They're even both around the same height.

He's also extremely confident and comfortable in his own skin and nonchalant about his body, which exudes exceptional sexuality. He's completely unaware of his attractiveness, and he's so cool about it. Mind you, he does smoke cigarettes, which I know is a bad habit, and I myself just recently called it quits for good. Go me.

 Anyway their playfulness is also quite similar, as once Kip becomes comfortable with someone he can be extremely silly and fun. And when that smile appears on his most innocent face, every good looking man could be in the same room at the same time and I wouldn't glance up, not even once.

He also has the most childlike laugh that makes you want to go run to the backyard, play Twister, run down slides and blow bubbles.

So now perhaps you can see why I'm still a bit hung up on the man, though he remains illusive and mysterious, and still lives clear across the other side of the world. I still can't get over him.

Jane and I were discussing, a few days ago, what a shame it is that we'll never be able to post photos of ourselves or the respective guys we're currently using as material.

So, I'm thinking the easiest way to solve this problem is just to do a celebrity comparison, which actually might give our fine readers a better idea of the physical and personal assets our guys have than an actual photo of them.

So, here goes

For Guitar Guy, I'd say the closest match would be:

Dominic Monaghan

There's one other celeb that Guitar Guy probably resembles more, in the face, but his overall persona is dead on Dom Monaghan, which is, my friends joke, the initial reason I was drawn to him, since I would do Dom Monaghan, sideways, with no questions asked.

The appeal here is dirty-sexy, compact, and artsy.  (I have a thing for the short ones.  Dunno why.)  Somehow both meticulously groomed and looking as though he hasn't showered in a week.  I dunno what it is, but it works for me.

Think Dom as Charlie Pace in Lost.  This is perfect, as I have my own, personal, Charlie Pace action figure.

When I moved in with Jenna, she actually inspected it and expressed surprise at how similar it looked to Guitar Guy.

I often say all I'm bringing to London are clothes and my action figure.

Believe it or not, this isn't far from the truth.

Silverman presented I'm F***ing Matt Damon to Kimmel as a gift in honor of Jimmy Kimmel Live's 5th anniversary (it was originally meant to be aired in November 2007 during Kimmel's birthday show, which never happened due to the WGA strike), and uploads of the video quickly appeared on YouTube in a Lazy Sunday-esque wave.

The choice of partners is deliberate, as Jimmy Kimmel has a long-standing joke feud with Matt Damon (culminating in a rage-filled appearance in September 2006), but who knew that Matt Damon could not only rap, but bust out some 90s-dance-crew moves?

And who knew that Kimmel would raise the bar so dramatically with a follow-up featuring Damon BFF Ben Affleck? I'm F***ing Ben Affleck may start off like a cheap rip-off, but soon afterwards ups the ante, both in an artistic and cast sense: the quasi-official YouTube upload lists Robin Williams, Don Cheadle, Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, Rebecca Romijn, Benji Madden, Joel Madden, Dicky Barrett, Christopher Mintz-Plasse a.k.a. Mclovin, Lance Bass, Dominic Monaghan, Meatloaf, Pete Wentz, Joan Jett, Huey Lewis, Perry Farrell, Macy Gray and Josh Groban. Sure, there are no butterflies. But there is a "We Are The World"-esque chorus and Harrison Ford in a convertible. Advantage: Kimmel.

Of course, Silverman and Kimmel didn't work together on these shorts -- both were directed by Wayne McClammy, a Jimmy Kimmel Live segment director who's parlayed his success into exciting directing gigs. But the established nature of their relationship in the public eye is what gives these pieces the additional kick. What makes "I'm F***ing Matt Damon/Ben Affleck" so much fun is that the humor of the pieces reflect that stage in a romance when all the insecurity is gone, when both partners are so comfortable with each other that they can make these sorts of tasteless jokes. Now that they've broken up, it's just a little sad, to think of the people they are now, um, f***ing.

But maybe there's a chance they got together for one last breakup music video. Everyone knows those are always the best.

Black Eyed Peas front man, Will.I.Am is trading in his microphone and stylish designer wardrobe for the iconic "X" branded black leather jumpsuit it has recently emerged. Will's first feature film debut will see him standing along side X Men veteran; Hugh Jackman, in the first anticipated Marvel movie spin off - X Men Orgins; Wolverine, set for a 2009 release.

"I'm a teleporter. ... I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere. Boom, boom, boom!" Will revealed, "My character's name is John Wraith. He's a black Texan. He's not a cowboy, but his gear suggests that he is. He's just a badass who'll whoop your ass."

But saving the world from the clutches of evil doers is the least of the would be actors problems, as Will spoke out about trying to get to grips with his new super human powers and the rather embarrassing first injury on set that followed.

"I'm a newbie when it comes to big action films and stuff" exclaimed Will "It was my fight scene. I was real into it, and then I missed my mark, and I punched the camera and broke the lens! But that goes to show you, I ain't to be messed with, because I break lenses!"

Will revealed that once director Gavin Hood replaced his camera lens, he had the rapper/actor run through the battle quite a few more times. "I missed a couple marks," he laughed. "They'd say, 'OK, come in, hit your mark, turn to the left ... and, action!' I missed my mark! 'All right, take two!' So I missed my mark a couple of times, then I got the hang out of it: Boom! Pow! It probably took me 50 times, but I got it. It was hard for me, but it was cool and fun at the same time."

But Will, is not the only Black Eyed Peas member trying to make the jump from the recording studio to the big screen, as Taboo gears up to kick some life back into the Street Fighter saga in "Legend of Chun Li".

The film also stars Ryan Reynolds(who will play anti-hero, Deadpool) Dominic Monaghan of TV's Lost, Danny Huston (who plays Col. William Stryker) and "Friday Night Lights" star Taylor Kitsch (who will play my favorite X-Men character of all, the French card throwing, Gambit)

Le riprese di X-Men Origins: Wolverine continuano sui set di Sidney e di Blacksmiths Beach, dove sono state realizzate alcune sequenze ambientate durante la seconda guerram mondiale.

Nelle foto è ben visibile Hugh Jackman e in un paio di immagini è riconoscibile anche Liev Schreiber. Insieme a loro, nel cast del film diretto da Gavin Hood, ci sono Ryan Reynolds, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney, Will.i.am e Taylor Kitsch.

Happy LOST Thought of the Day: Invisible peanut butter

Androgyny is fascinating, it's been here forever but it stays so taboo. It's been "in" for every decade since the '70's, where pioneers like David Bowie and the New York Dolls helped push it into popular culture, yet it's never fully "in," because genderbend isn't ever fully "in."

Rock and rollers have done a lot for androgyny, from Bowie and Grace Jones to the guyliner-wearing rockers of today. For our androgyny edition, here's an excerpt from an interview with Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, followed by a classic quote from an interview with Gregg Alexander from The New Radicals.

Pete Wentz, being featured in the Advocate's "Big Gay Following" section:

The Advocate: You made a lot of gay fans happy when you admitted that you'd kissed boys because "anything above the waist is fair game."

Pete: [Laughs] I actually mean it. That's just kind of how I am. I'm a little bit of a make-out bandit. I don't discriminate too much.

The Advocate: What's the closest you've ever come to taking the boy-on-boy action to the next level?

Pete: I haven't really gotten that close, 'cause honestly, I'm not a real big fan of penises. Like my own, whenever I look at it, I just don't find anything attractive about it. I can't believe girls are into it.

The Advocate: You've also said that people who aren't fans of yours will sometimes call you an antigay slur. Why is that?

Pete: I don't know. I thin it's a real cheap, easy word. At some point when we were doing this band I was like, "You know what? I'm going to be the most androgynous person that I can possibly be. I'm going to wear girl pants and makeup." I looked to David Bowie, Mick Jagger, and people like that, and I was like, "That's what's missing in all the bands that we're playing with right now! You need this effeminate edge." Did Mick Jagger and David Bowie make out? Probably. Who knows? I think sexuality is a lot more ambiguous and more blurred than people make it out to be." Lost é uma das séries com um melhor grupo de aficionados do mundo, e não por serem muitos "em números", mas muitos "em palavras". Como tal não é de estranhar que exista um número muito grande de blogues dedicados a esta série, e um número bastante reduzido de blogues dedicados a por exemplo CSI: Miami, a série com mais espectadores a nível mundial.

Além de gostarem de divulgar Lost, os fãs também gostam de desenvolver vídeos musicais baseados na série. Muitos deles de grande qualidade. Aqui ficam alguns fan-videos de Lost que valem a pena dar uma olhadela antes de ver a estreia em sinal aberto da nova temporada amanhã na RTP 1.

A quarta temporada estreia em sinal aberto amanhã na RTP 1, num evento de três horas, no qual será incluído o final da terceira temporada, um especial a documentar os principais eventos desde o episódio piloto até ao último episódio da terceira temporada, e depois a tão aguardada estreia da quarta e ante-penúltima temporada.
