Sony Ericsson continúa con su política de alcanzar los más recónditos y divertidos rincones de la sociedad donde diseño y tecnología se dan la mano. En este caso se trata de un dispositivo de la serie W, inicial del icónico ‘Walkman', para todos sinónimo histórico de buena música. El teléfono se comercializará en exclusiva con Orange y, como peculiaridad, señalar que si en el diseño exterior esta personalizado con imágenes de Hello Kitty, en su interior lleva preinstalado, un juego, algunos fondos de pantalla, temas, etc. de este personaje que supera el mercado infantil. Así mismo, el pack de venta incorpora una funda y un pequeño adorno con la imagen de la gatita.

En el campo de la tecnología, se trata de un modelo formato slider, de 14 Mm. de grosor, 99 gramos de peso, cámara de 2 Mpx, pantalla de 262.144 colores con una resolución de 240x320, tarjeta externa de memoria (Memory stick Micro), Bluetooth (A2DP), efectos de luz y con capacidad para almacenar 470 canciones. Además, incorpora un software para la gente que realiza deporte, cuenta los pasos recorridos, las calorías consumidas, la distancia recorrida, el tiempo empleado y la velocidad.

I usually see this hour (5:39a.m.) from the other side. So I thought I’d add a little perk to my morning brew by visiting the site for Japanese women’s fashion mag, PINKY.

Part of Shuiesha’s (one of Japan’s top cats in the publishing lark) stable of monthlies, PINKY is aimed at fashion conscious twenty-something gals. PINKY launched in 2004 as a sister magazine to the Japanese version of Seventeen, with several staff moving to help set up the newer title.

To my untrained eye, the magazine’s target readership is fresh, cute and girly-graduating-to-feminine, with aspirations of style and sophistication. Earlier this year one of PINKY’s free gift giveaways was a Betsey Johnson x Hello Kitty pouch.

I’m a big fan of Japanese magazines. I think their design and attention to detail is often fantastic: the graphic side of the written word is really pushed to the foreground. Of course, I’ve fallen hard for Japanese design in general.

My suspicion is that the Japanese language promotes this on two fronts. First, basics of typography are interwoven into the learning of written characters. They are treated as visual, even artistic, forms from a young age through compulsory calligraphy classes in school. Such an education tends to be sorely lacking in the West.

Second, Japanese can be written and read left-to-right as well as top-to-bottom. This frees up designers considerably. For example, one can make use of thin, narrow spaces for copy, titles or captions which would be unsightly using Latin script (although compression from the needs of digital media, especially mobile platforms, has, I think made English readers more receptive to small line widths, vertical text cannot be of great length). A mixture of horizontal and vertical copy can help to create a more dynamic layout.

Anyway, more of that another time. I just wanted to look at all the pretty girls in their summer finery.

eternally 12 apparently...mariah is the physical embodiment of kitsch and youth obsession taken too far. and no i don't buy the nick cannon thing, that boy just looks uncomfortable to me.

if all of st etienne's video has been animated kitsch, i think their music would have been more appealing. i liked it, but the oh-look-at-us-we're indie!-and-quirky! band members ruined things somewhat.

sub sub and melanie williams - ain't no love

the most cartoonish club classic i can remember - shouldn't have worked but it did.

Han är tunn som en tarm, Smilla, 14 veckor, ser enorm ut bredvid honom! Vi trodde att han skulle vara 12 veckor när vi hämtade honom men han är knappt 10... Känns ju inte riktigt seriöst av uppfödaren som faktiskt är registrerad hos Swerak.

Micke tycker jag är löjlig som köpt en Hello Kitty kalender. Hahaha. Okej, jag inser ju att den riktar sig till betydligt yngre människor (med tanke på att man bland annat ska skriva in sitt skolschema och fylla i två sidor om sig själv + lägga in en bild på sin pussmun och skriva sin autograf ;) ) men den är ju söööt och rosa! Problemet jag lär få är att hålla mina två Hello Kitty-tokiga småtjejer från att sno kalendern och klottra ner den :)

Abbiamo preso parte all'evento che si è svolto a Catania presso il lido "Le Palme" ed abbiamo potuto assistere ad una sfilata che offre ricchi spunti, adatti a tutti gli stili: dallo sporty chic, al total pink, passando per il look leopardato, fino a quello da sera. E poi accessori da viaggio, gioielli e, fra le tante novità, il vino firmato Hello Kitty, che al conclusione del fashion show è stato servito algi ospiti e non possiamo che consigliarvi di acquistare subito una delle fantastiche bottiglie.

Una serata all'insegna del rosa che non ha disegnato però fantasie più seriose, tacchi a spillo e tanta musica durante il party sulla spiaggia. Se fino ad ora Hello Kitty non vi ha ancora conquistate, sempre che quetso sia possibile, con la nuova collezione firmata dai titolari di Camomilla, Maurizio e Grazie Belloni, vi ricrederete. Potete tenere sempre d'occhio qui la bacheca degli eventi Camomilla.

Celebraba una fiesta de pijamas para presentar el Sony Ericsson W580i Hello Kitty de Orange, un modelo exclusivo para el mercado español. Así que decidí ir para mantener informada a mi bloggeramiga italiana Ángela, autora del blog mysonyericssonblog.  

Infinidad de globos rosas recibían a los invitados en la calle Pizarro, de Madrid. Nada más entrar, tenían que pasar por el vestuario donde, si no traían pijama, les prestaban uno. Cruzado el umbral, descubrían ante sus ojos varias camas, con sábanas de Hello Kitty y un árbol del que colgaban los nuevos terminales de Sony Ericsson y Orange, enteramente disponibles para el uso de los asistentes al evento.

“Cuando nos pidieron que organizáramos la presentación del nuevo móvil de Hello Kitty, se nos vinieron a la mente las típicas historias de adolescencia y así se nos ocurrió lo de la fiesta de pijamas”, comenta Carmen Gil, directora de Cool-Lines. Carmen Gil reconoce que era una apuesta arriesgada, pero había que intentarlo. “Hemos conseguido incluso que Ariadna Artiles traiga un vestido que recuerda mucho a un camisón”.

La modelo posó con el nuevo terminal ante más un centenar de invitados, entre los que había unos setenta medios acreditados y varios famosos. De fondo, un photocall creado con almohadones de Hello Kitty y logotipos de las marcas protagonistas de la velada.

El Sony Ericsson W580i Hello Kitty de Orange es plano (14 milímetros), formato “slider”, y ofrece todas las prestaciones musicales de un móvil Walkman®, permitiendo almacenar hasta 470 canciones completas. “Orange y Sony Ericsson son dos marcas muy afines. Uno de los puntos que tenemos en común es precisamente la importancia que le damos a la música”, comenta Thierry Piganeaud, director de marketing de Orange. “Las dos marcas apostamos por el público joven. Además, cuenta con una cámara digital de 2.0 megapíxel, que se esconde bajo la tapa deslizante, e incorpora una funda y un adorno, ambos de Hello Kitty.

La famosa gatita, adoptada por la compañía japonesa Sanrio en 1976, dos años después de su creación, es también protagonista de un juego, un fondo de pantalla y un tema, preinstalados en el teléfono.

So here, have a post that I didn't really plan out in advance and am kind of just making up as I go along. We'll see how this turns out. The title is exactly what you're gonna get. My friend ArgentShade made a few suggestions to me, and they were all TV shows, so I figured I'd just write a little post about them.

First on his list was He-Man/She-Ra. Um...I can't really talk about this because I've actually never seen either show! Yeah, I'm a failure. Alls I know is that Prince Adam looks like he belongs in a ballet troupe and that She-Ra looks slightly more masculine than he does. (Also, oh my God my tooth hurts really bad right now.)

I remember watching that Masters of the Universe movie ages ago, but I don't remember it very well, and from what I hear, it's probably better that I don't. I wonder if it was as bad as the Super Mario Bros. movie or the Street Fighter movie? Or that damned Garbage Pail Kids movie?

Anyway, since He-Man was so big in the 80s, I'm going to have to watch it eventually. I just hope it's at least halfway enjoyable. Contrary to what you might think, I am actually NOT a big fan of 80s cartoon shows. A few of them are good fun. Some of them are just okay. But the majority of them are pieces of shit. And that's what we'll call them from now on: shitpieces. Just 'cause it was made in the 80s doesn't mean it's any good. For example, leg warmers came from the 80s and they're one of the most pointless, ugly things ever. The same descriptors can be applied to many 80s cartoons. I might talk more on this topic in the not-so-distant future.

The next thing ArgentShade mentioned was DiC. Now, they're pretty prolific, so I can find at least one or two shows to blather on about for a minute.

Let's see. Ah yes, The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin! There's a show I have something to say about.

It started in 1986, and ended in 1988 with a whopping 65 episodes. However...I've only seen about 15 of them, and ten of them I just watched this year. I bought the DVD set that contains the first 20 episodes but, unfortunately, haven't been able to make myself finish watching it.

See, the first five episodes showed some real promise. They have a contiguous plot, for one-- very rare for an 80s show! I had these five episodes on tape because my dad recorded them for me, and I watched them over and over (my dad and I even have a few inside jokes from that show). I still have a good time watching those episodes, but after that...things turn episodic and inane in true 80s cartoon fashion. I tried to slog through the whole DVD set to no avail. It's a shame, really. Hopefully it picks the story back up later on. Not sure how long it'll be before I find out, or if I'll even bother at all. Honestly, I think I'd rather just stick with my good memories of the first five episodes.

Here's another one I can give a brief blurb about: Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theatre.

I don't remember the actual content of the show, because I never really got to see it. The local CBS affiliate aired it at like 6 in the morning on Saturday when I was about four years old. Of course, I loved Hello Kitty and had a few of the toys, so I wanted badly to see this show. But I could never get up early enough to catch it! I have a clear memory of struggling to wake up only to catch the end credits. Made me so sad. Oh well...it probably wasn't that great anyway.

Also, we can't be talking about DiC and neglect to mention Rainbow Brite! I didn't get to see all the episodes of this show either...it was almost before my time, as it started in 1984 and ended in 1985. I had a couple of episodes on CED, and let me tell you, I watched the hell out of that thing. One of these days I'm going to have to find the rest of the episodes and watch them. There's been no DVD release, which is actually very surprising to me. If all 65 episodes of Teddy Ruxpin can get a DVD release, there's still hope for Rainbow Brite.

Last one by DiC that I'll mention is The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. I loved Nintendo when I was little (like every other kid back then) and so I watched this show religiously when I was in kindergarten. It taught me how to tell when it was 3:30, because that's when it came on. However, for some reason, I HATED the Zelda cartoon and, on Fridays, would always change the channel in disgust. I haven't seen either show in ages, but ArgentShade's got one of the DVD sets. I need to borrow it from him sometime.

Another one he suggested was Nickelodeon game shows, but I don't really have time to talk about those right now. There are only 500 different ones. But I'm gonna keep it in mind.

Next on his list was Full House. Oh God.

I am ashamed to admit this, but...I used to love Full House. Keep in mind that I was about 7 years old at the time. I would watch this every fucking week at Grandmama's house, and I loved every minute of it. The sad part is that I kept watching it until I was old enough to know better. Nowadays, I can't sit through an episode. It's just...too much for me.

The concept of the show was good. It could have been good if it hadn't been so...well, you've seen it, I'm sure, so you know how it is. Plus Bob Saget's presence on any show is an automatic minus five. (Yes, even America's Funniest Home Videos.) At least John Stamos was hot.

Finally, he mentioned Small Wonder. This is a show that I only saw one time when I was very young, didn't remember the name of, and wracked my brain for years trying to think of it. The only thing about it that I could remember was the little android girl, Vicki, and her red-and-white dress. And I remember being creeped out by her.

I saw an episode on Youtube several months ago and...it's a "wonder" that this show lasted four seasons. Here, just watch the intro. The first time I saw it, my eyebrow was stuck in a raised position for like twenty minutes.

I guess I can see why five-year-olds might have liked it, but this is one of those shows that proves-- to me, anyway --that the 80s weren't necessarily the golden age of television that a lot of people make it out to be.

And now, I am extremely fucking tired so I'm going to bed.

anyway.......I hung out with my mariabot, ming and nick to Japan LA party on June 7th. The party was at one level above The Highlands club. I haven't do clubbing for more than a year. I don't know Hollywood traffic can be sooooo horrible. I didn't remember to bring my camera. But there was a camera man took pics for ppl with Hello Kitty.
