Umm, I have a confession to make.
I own everything No Doubt released until Rock Steady. Most people who grew up in the 90s will concede that Tragic Kingdom was an awesome album. Everything before that I own because I went through this happy-go-lucky ska phase. And I'll say it - Return of Saturn is my favorite. It's new wave-y and girly and mature and relatable to ladies like myself who are torn between wanting to be in love and wanting to be tough. Deal with it.

But around Rock Steady I got skeptical. I said, "Umm, Gwen, what are you doing? Hey, uh, rest of the band - why are you letting this happen?" "Hollaback Girl" threw a permanent rift in there, and we've been in a fight ever since. Or at least until I continued my higher education and developed an ironic appreciation for dance music, that maybe turned into a sincere appreciation. I don't know. The jury's still out. Whatever.

We can blame this inner turmoil on Girl Talk.
Mash-ups were originally fun because they kind of poked fun at the fact that pop songs were generic enough to be played over each other and fit together perfectly. Then Gregg Gillis had to come along, rocking his laptop, and mashing up songs on such a skillful level that indie kids and pop fans alike had to embrace him with sincerity. Now nobody knows what's going on.

For better or for worse...
As angry as I am at Gwen for ruining one of my favorite high school bands... As fucked up as it is that Britney butchered a Joan Jett song...

This is fucking bangin'. Enjoy it with whichever level of appreciation you can.

Lezers,

u kunt met ons

Lezers,

Toen ie wegliep was

dat niet leuk. Mijn moeder was al niet zo goed en daardoor was alles...

(Om wille van de ruimte ingekort - Redactie) ...En zo zat ik er mee.

Dus U snapt nu hoe het is.'

Ja, B. Dat is ons duidelijk. Wij hopen dat het tapijt inmiddels weer schoon en droog is. En dank u voor de complimenten.

En mevr. K.B. te A.:

'BillenReet, Fascisten!'

Tsja, mevrouw K.B....

Love hurts, love scars, love wounds and marks
Any heart not tough nor strong enough
To take a lot of pain, take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud holds a lot of rain
Love hurts, love hurts

I may be slow, but even so
I know a thing or two, I've learned from you
I've really learned a lot, really learned a lot
Love is like a flame, burns you when it's hot
Love hurts, love hurts

Some fools rave of happiness, blissfulness, togetherness
Some fools fool themselves I guess
But they're not fooling me

I know it isn't true, know it isn't true
Love is just a lie, made to make you blue
Love hurts, love hurts

I know it isn't true, know it isn't true
Love is just a lie, made to make you blue
Love hurts, love hurts

----------------------------

Leaves are falling down ... the brown, soft earth close to the trees ... There's just something about the wind ... the cold; something magical, which brings me home when thoughts of you emerge out of nothing. You're gone ...
Memories of the past haunt my mind like ghosts ... each one, the sweeter, the more it hurts the innermost insides of my soul and makes me wonder if I should ever hope again. I just cannot seem to be able to let go. Although, I know, in my heart, that I should. It's just...the idea of you... the memory of you... your ghost, well-within my heart, my mind...

There will be such a long time before I can say your name again and not feel, deep inside, that you are 'the one'. How could I ever be able to forget instantly? How to convince my brain that you do not belong to each and every one of my thoughts?
My future will take me away from everything I've ever been ... away from you and the pain inflicted upon me by my past ... but will it be enough? Will it cure my thirst for healing?

Why do I miss my killer? Why do I regret long-pondered-upon and right decisions? You still have a spell on me... That's why I must leave you behind ... away ... as far away as possible. I feel the need for silence ... I'm on my way now ... without you ... from here to eternity.

List Of 300+ Celebrities That Favor Obama

The celebrities listed below this introduction were chosen because they have either been recently

The celebrities listed below this introduction were chosen because they have either been recently in the news or were run across in my non-scientific Internet search. A short explanation is given about some of their comments or actions in favor of Obama but please take it with a large grain of salt as it is in no way complete. In case someone asks, of course there are a small number of stars that support the John McCain / Sarah Palin ticket like Sylvester Stallone, John Voight, Ted Nugent and Charlie Daniels.

It is no secret that most Hollywood and music stars are liberals and have become a reliable source of campaign cash for Democratic candidates. So far according to the Center for Responsive Politics the music and entertainment industry has given over $ 5.6 million to the Obama presidential effort and donated $ 3.4 million to the Hillary Clinton campaign. How did John McCain fare you ask? His campaign has received $ 885,000, total.

Not included are many rap and hip-hop stars like 50 Cent, Chamillionare, Scarface, etc., because around 95% of their community supports Obama’s candidacy. To list them all would take forever. They support Obama by using clothes with Obama’s image on them on stage, by putting up Obama or Obama/Biden banners at their concerts, etc. Almost all speak favorably of the candidate and hope the more outspoken members of their community tone down their support for fear of alienating voters that do not understand what their music is about. Some artists have said they support and will vote for Obama because he is one of them. Others say he is the most qualified for the job with race having nothing to do with their decision. To say that they are excited about this election is an understatement!

Below the stars, more or less in alphabetical order, listed by their last name. Looking for Oprah? She’s under W for Winfrey. How about Jay-Z? He’s under C for Shawn Carter. Homer Simpson? Try S for Homer Simpson. Yes, even Homer tries to vote for Obama.

Enjoy. Or not.

In July 2008 the Obama campaign has distanced themselves from Ludacris because of his song “Politics: Obama is Here” that contains some controversial material the campaign said was outrageously offensive, something akin to: President Bush is mentally handicapped, Vice President Cheney belongs in a wheel chair paralyzed, an Obama presidency is destiny, criticized Reverend Jessie Jackson, and called Hillary Clinton a b***h.

Browne has been a liberal all his life and thought that if his music was used in Republican ads the public might think he endorses McCain. Since 2004 he has contributed at least $ 4,300 to Obama’s coffers. After the lawsuit was filed the ORp pulled the ad. Browne is asking for around $75,000 in damages. September 22, 2008 his song "Looking East" forms part of the album "Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement" the Obama/Biden campaign is selling over the Internet for $ 24.99.

Shawn Carter (Jay-Z): March 3, 2008 an audio only voice recording made by the rapper is put out asking voters to vote for Obama on the Mar 4 Ohio Democratic primaries. The rapper has said he supports Obama for president. April 2008 after the ABC debate with Hillary Clinton, in a speech a few days later, Obama used the the motion of brushing dirt off his shoulder to make a point. Most people outside of the hip-hop community missed the significance of the gesture but it quickly became controversial. In a mater of days after the controversy that a presidential candidate for the first time ever used hip-hop inspired gestures during a speech had reached a crescendo, it was learned that the gesture could be related to a song by Jay-Z called “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”. The gesture meant shaking those that hate you off or getting rid of negative energy. Obama and his campaign have said that in his iPod Obama has songs by Jay-Z….
Oprah Winfrey: On September 5, 2008 the Drudge Report said that the show is receiving a lot of emails asking that Sarah Palin be on. Half of the staff really wants Palin to appear but that Oprah and a couple of her people do not because it might hurt Obama. In 2007 continues the Drudge Report, conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was not allowed to go on when he was promoting his book. Later on September 5, 2008 Oprah stated to TMZ that she would love to have Palin on, after the election, as the staff had not discussed the Palin appearance and she had made the decision not have her show become a platform for candidates. Oprah has said about Obama: That would be my favorite guy, ….I know him well enough to believe in his moral authority. And that is the number one reason why I am supporting him, ..my Senator, my favorite Senator, and my choice. He appeared twice on Oprah, in January 2005 and October 2006, before she gave him her formal endorsement. On September 25, 2006 Oprah, on Larry King Live, said she hoped Obama ran for President. May 2007 Oprah formally endorses Obama for President. September 8, 2007 Oprah hosted an Obama fundraiser for 1,500 guests, each one donating $ 2,300 to his campaign. From November 2007 to February 2008 Oprah campaigned with Obama in Iowa, South Carolina, New Hampshire and in California. Many opine it was Oprah that introduced Obama to white American women and because of her active support suffered a huge backlash that continues to these days. August 2008 she was at the DNC in Denver praising Obama’s acceptance speech. September 2008 two University of Maryland economists say Oprah’s endorsement has given Obama approximately 1 million votes he would not have gotten otherwise. September 2008 she asked her viewers to support Senate bill 1738 proposed by Senator Joe Biden and endorsed by Senator Barack Obama. September 2008 Oprah again said her staff had not brought up having Sarah Palin on her show but would like to have her on after the election. She has donated at least $ 2,300 to the Obama campaign.

so, in light of last week’s hype about how Nikki called out the Jonases and Miley for not bein

so, in light of last week's hype about how Nikki called out the Jonases and Miley for not being Rock n Roll, it is interesting to note that this is NOT a new argument. Apparently, 5 years ago a very similar debate (Rolling Stone started it...once again) occurred when Britney Spears was featured as a "woman of rock" on the magazine's cover and Joan Jett went unmentioned. Heresy! know I don't need to say it, but thats a really good reason why no one who seriously likes music subscribes to Rolling Stone.

Apparently, soon after the publication of the issue, a woman wrote a great letter in defense of "real" rock 'n' roll and sent it in to them. It wasn't published in the magazine, but it did make its rounds on the internet. Now, as the article states, the published letter (read it HERE) was not really written by Joan Jett, as was rumored. Personally, I think that is irrelevant, because the letter's contents are still great.

my favorite sentence: "by RS standards, Rock is no longer a style of music but a trendy costume to be whipped up by expensive stylists and slapped onto the latest pop tart Barbie doll. "

so true. This my friends, is what Nikki Sixx was speaking out against...this pervasive idea that rock n roll is just found in the way you look and the way people are meant to perceive you (aka, the way you market yourself)...Sometimes rock n roll is marketed and sometimes it does have definite fashion trends, but real rock...It's deeper than that. There is more substance there. It ain't about making a fashion statement, it ain't about trendiness. Its an attitude and a real way of life.

Rock on y'all!!

When people feel down most of them normally go under cover, I on the other hand, put ON cover, literally, especially those fashionable ones and look all stylish ;). It never fails to paint my mood a happy sunshine color and i feel precious :p

When life gets me low, i get high on fabric :S all sorts and all colors and all types! And i visit friends and family or just take a walk looking like a runway model :P haha no that was a definite overstatement! The idea is to have one thing to feel good about myself so i can take my mind off whatever that's bugging me. Ofcourse it's a temporary solution because it doesn't solve the real problem. Otherwise you'd see me in shiny clothes walking down that road almost everyday! Thank god its not that way :S.

Once i can just forget about what's bugging me (even if only for a little while) i can start to concentrate on possible solutions to my problems. So if you see me all dressed up for no reason then know that life has been treating me like shit lately and i'm working on the magical solution that is just one walk away down the runway :P

Pegamoose? I don't buy it. Either way, nothing like lexicon to remind you what is completely despicable about humanity.

I hate flickr for reminding me how little I'm doing with my life, but this is pretty awesome. I saw Joan Jett, about eight years ago, play at a random show near the Mall in D.C. and she was every bit as badass as I'd hope she'd be. Evidently the first concert that my mom took my brother to was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. I have never felt as cheated in my life as I did when she told me that. I'm not sure if the "cool parent" had already been thoroughly drained from my mom by the time I was old enough to do stuff like that or if she just didn't love me enough to expose me to good music. Meanwhile my dad swears up and down that my first words were "rock n roll". If it's true you can only imagine what the implications are. This was clearly so important to him that he would sit by my crib repeating "rock n roll" the same way that other fathers repeat "dada".

Considering the laws of opposites as it relates to parents and children, it's probably a good thing that my mom did not take me to see Joan Jett. Everyone knows that hippy kids turn out to be young republicans and minister kids turn out to be goths. I could have wound up pro-life and selling Mary Kay out the back of my husband's Hummer.

As a sort of related note, this Palin woman has some stupid ass name for her kids. I mean, seriously, how can you trust someone who names their kids like this?

It's the end of winter, 2006, and Joan Jett is finishing up the final touches on her album Sinner in a New York studio, as her new song “Naked” blares over the speakers. It is classic Joan Jett: buzz saw guitars, sing-along melodies, and that amazing voice—rough and soft, sweet and tough at the same time—lashing it all together and taking it to new heights with every chorus. “Every bit of trouble that I cherished / Every bit of truth that I let perish / Every little bit of me is naked,” Jett howls, nearly pleads, and then sneers, “Yeah.”

This is rock and roll as it ought to be—raw and catchy and a little desperate. This is the music that has been Joan Jett’s lifeblood for 30 years, since she started the legendary Runaways when she was 15. Jett’s sound—succinctly described by longtime manager Kenny Laguna as a cross between “Yummy Yummy” and the Germs—is so prevalent these days it is easy to forget that she invented it. You don’t have to dig very deep below the surface of anyone from Green Day, the Donnas, and Bikini Kill to Avril Lavigne, Pink, and a slew of lesser bubblegum pop punk to find her. Every time a producer wants to sprinkle a little edge or credibility onto a manufactured starlet, from Ashlee Simpson to Kelly Osbourne, Joan Jett’s sound is borrowed. The irony is not lost on her.

Joan Jett has fought hard for her success. It was built in the face of hostile audiences, oblivious record executives, and entrenched resistance. She has held her ground in front of the meanest audience—even while being spit on, pelted with bottles and batteries, and insulted. Millions of records and about a dozen hit songs later, she takes it all with a grain of salt. She has earned some of the most loyal fans in the world and she has become a North Star for every girl who picks up a guitar. Besides, nothing is more rock and roll than kicking down doors and doing what everyone says can’t be done. And everybody knows Joan Jett loves rock and roll.

“The first records I remember really inspiring me to play guitar were T. Rex ‘Bang a Gong’ and Black Sabbath ‘Iron Man’ and the first New York Dolls record,” Jett remembers. “I started playing for real at 13. My parents got me a Sears Silvertone for Christmas. I had been bugging them for it. I tried to take some guitar lessons and was very excited and went in and told the guy, ‘Teach me how to play rock and roll!’ He looked at me like I was out of my mind and attempted to teach me how to play ‘On Top of Old Smokey.’ That was the one and only lesson I took. I got one of those ‘How to Play Guitar by Yourself’ books and just taught myself to play.”

It was just a couple years later when Jett formed the Runaways, the groundbreaking all-girl teenage rock ‘n’ roll band, with Lita Ford and Cherie Currie. “I moved to California when I was 13,” she says. “Coinciding with the time I was learning to play guitar. Moving was traumatic, because of the friends and all that, but that was the point when I thought, ‘Now I can make these dreams happen, because now I’m in California.’”

Managed by notorious Sunset Strip Svengali Kim Fowley, the Runaways gave Joan an early education in the sleazy sides of the music business and a preview of the obstacles that she would face in the years ahead. Tough teenage girls playing menacing rock and roll in an age of Captain and Tennille, the Runaways were written off as a novelty act in the U.S. (Predictably, Rolling Stone snubbed them as “Kim Fowley’s quintet of teen teasers.”) They were huge in Japan, though, and they were everything to Joan. She put her heart and soul into the band, walking the tightrope that stretches between the right to rock and the refusal to be exploited. Her look, sound, and integrity prefigured and influenced punk rock and it was punk rock that welcomed her when the Runaways fell apart.

“The whole idea of the Runaways to me is punk rock. And my first inspiration came from early British glitter music, and all the bands that were happening right around us. The Ramones, the Clash. We were lucky enough to tour right in the middle of it. It was really one of those moments you never forget. Especially being a teenager. But the Runaways were five different girls with five different influences. And half the band really wanted to go in a heavy metal direction and I didn’t. I wanted to stay more straight-up rock and roll. That’s really what caused us to split in the end. But it was devastating for me. The Runaways were my baby. They were my band. It was very traumatic. I did not look at it as freeing, or freedom, or anything like that. I felt very lost.”

Joan left Los Angeles and drifted to London, confused, unsure of what to do next. “I was just trying to figure out where to go. I didn’t want people to feel that girls couldn’t rock, that the Runaways failed. Because that is the vibe that people throw at you. Like, ‘Ha ha ha, we told you it wouldn’t work. We told you girls can’t rock.’” While in London, Joan met Paul Cook and Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, and enlisted them to play on a demo of a song she had been wanting to record for a while. She had tried to get the Runaways to cut it on their last two records, but nobody had been interested.

Alone, far from home, with no band and no record deal—worried that she might have missed her chance, that her dreams were over—Joan Jett walked into the studio and cut “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

The response? Complete indifference. “Nobody heard ‘I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,’” Joan says, sounding still stunned. “That was the funny thing. To everybody else it was just another song. And I have 23 rejection letters to prove it, from everybody.”

In New York, the crowds started building. “We were really well received. It seemed like it happened very quickly. The audiences were really intense. I don’t know if it was timing, or if it was the songs. We had great support from radio, though, which is nonexistent for up-and-coming bands now. Radio was very, very helpful.” With the Blackhearts, Joan went back into the studio and rerecorded “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” along with great versions of Tommy James’ “Crimson and Clover” and the Halos’ “Nag,” and classic Jett originals like “Love is Pain” and “(I’m Gonna) Run Away.”

“I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” the single and the album of the same name, were released just before Christmas, 1981. It shot up the charts and stayed at No. 1 for two months. For Joan, it was like being on a rocket. She was suddenly an indisputable rock star, just as she always knew she could be. The massive success came with a price though. In addition to an ecstatic army of fans, Joan crashed head on into a wall of prejudice and stereotype. Many people just could not accept a woman on stage playing rock and roll guitar. A tour of Europe opening for the Scorpions got particularly nasty.

Back in Los Angeles, Joan was determined. She shrugged off the rejections and pushed forward. She put together a tough band and, with Laguna, started her own label to release the song herself. “I formed the Blackhearts and we moved to New York. I wanted to get out of L.A. I wanted to start fresh. For a band that has no money, for a struggling bar band, there are a lot more cities that you can play on the East Coast and go home at the end of the night. You can play Jersey, you can play Rhode Island, you can play Connecticut, you can play Pennsylvania, you can play Massachusetts, and you can play a million places in New York and still drive home. So that’s what we did, for all of ’79, ’80, ’81. Lots of touring, sleeping in vans, selling albums that we had printed ourselves from the trunk of our car. That was Blackheart Records right there. In the trunk.”

“They would work up these loogies,” Jett remembers. “And they’d let you know they were working on them, because you could hear it! The most disgusting noises you can make, hocking, working on these hideous loogies. And I would just be showered in spit and phlegm. It was a battle. But it wasn’t even about the music! I mean, I could have been channeling Elvis Presley and it wouldn’t have mattered. It was about trying to humiliate a woman onstage. And so they’d hock on me and I would be literally dripping in these loogies, these disgusting things hanging off me, off my guitars, off my clothes. And when that didn’t work, when that didn’t get me off the stage, besides calling me names, they’d start throwing things. At one place it was a bottle, and at one place it was a battery. I don’t remember which was where. One hit me in the head and gave me stitches and another hit me in the chest and broke a couple ribs.”

At the same time, Jett was up against a different kind of opposition from record executives who didn’t know what to make of her or her success. A stint on MCA inspired a cover of the Sex Pistols’ classic put-down “E.M.I.” with the letters changed to those of her new label. “I’m not sure that a certain level of label gets what kind of artist I am,” she says. “And that’s not a cut—they just don’t get it. They try to change you and change the essence of who you are. That’s why I just do my own thing.”

Her own thing has done well. She followed “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” with hits like “Bad Reputation,” “I Hate Myself for Loving You,” “Do You Wanna Touch Me,” and the multi-platinum “Up Your Alley.” She stormed into the ’90s as a mentor and inspiration to the riot grrl movement, working with Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill and Kat Bjelland of Babes in Toyland and Donita Sparks of L7. At the same time, her near-perfect version of “Love is All Around” (the Mary Tyler Moore theme) became the anthem for women’s NCAA basketball. She wrote with Replacements front man Paul Westerberg, and together they recorded a raucous duet of Cole Porter’s “Let’s Do It.” Not the easily defined, lobbed softballs that the major labels beg for, but truly the stuff of a fiercely independent, self-reliant artist who has always followed her own instincts and blazed her own trail forward. And most importantly, it always sounded good.

The next few months are going to be busy for Joan Jett. She is gearing up for a summer on the Warped Tour, playing with bands she influenced heavily, for a young audience who fell in love with her sound secondhand. More than most performers, Joan Jett can connect with a crowd. She feels for her fans deeply. Watching her play live, it is almost as if she sees the reflection of herself staring back at her. An ocean of kids who love and believe in rock and roll, all the same age she was when she picked up a guitar and formed the Runaways. She thinks about this generation a lot, and the question she gets asked most is maybe the one that is closest to her heart, but the hardest to answer.

“I still can’t quite figure out why there aren’t more girls playing rock and roll,” she sighs. “Why they aren’t there. I think it is a combination of a lot of things. I think a lot of women get treated the way that I have been treated. And I think a lot of women aren’t willing to put up with their whole self-esteem being destroyed every day just because they are playing music. So I think sometimes people might say, ‘I don’t need this shit for a career; I’m going to do something else.’

“There are definitely walls up. I couldn’t tell you why and at what level. Is it the A&R people? Is it the presidents? Is it the record companies? Is it the video channels? Is it the press? It’s all of it. But if people want to play music, they should be able to. And if you happen to be a girl, you should be able to play rock and roll. So all I can say is: Girls, go play! If you want to play, go play! Things will change. The world is changing.”

Nice spurs. From the absolute ass-end of the Eighties, but she does this one great: Joan Jett tears into Chuck Berry's "Tulane" on Letterman.

Yet again, this game came out during my hiatus and has already been reviewed by a ton of magazines and the like. It's considerably shorter and easier than other Guitar Hero games, and your only hope of liking the game depends on how much you like Aerosmith. Dur de dur. So with that being said, this post is going to be a combination of my take on the game and a take on the Wii version of the game.

Nobody's Fault

First of all, a little about my Guitar Hero ability, to get some perspective on how easy the game is. I'm stuck on the last tier of Guitar Hero III (Raining Blood, Number of the Beast, One, Cliffs of Dover) on Hard, and just started Expert and so far can play through the first few tiers without much difficulty. Picking up Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, I decided to start out on Hard and hope that I wouldn't get stuck. I think I got through without failing a song once, though a few restarts were necessary. I've started playing on Expert and haven't gotten too far, but it's more a result of a lack of free time than genuine difficulty. The vast majority of the songs aren't too challenging (I got 100% on Dream On on Hard on my first try, and that's the second last encore), and so far moving up from Hard to Expert hasn't proved too difficult (the video above is on Expert, and I can only find one or two parts that differ at all from Hard, though I haven't actually played that far yet).

As for the song list, it's half Aerosmith, half other bands. Obviously, you're only even going to consider buying this game if you like Aerosmith. I only have their O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits greatest hits album and I've heard Rocks, and that was enough for me to enjoy the track list, arguably more than Guitar Hero III's track list. But that's mostly a personal call. For me, I found that I liked most of the Aerosmith songs, and the game only got dull during the other songs like "Dream Police" or "All The Young Dudes", which aren't similar to Aerosmith by any stretch of the imagination and scream "POWER BALLAD!!!!" a little too loudly for me. Only four songs are covers and another four Aerosmith songs are re-recordings (by Aerosmith, don't worry), including "Dream On" and "Mama Kin", the latter of which has the "smoking tea" line edited down to "smokin'", which kinda throws off the song musically, because it's obvious there's another word there.

Like Guitar Hero III, the animated story parts are incredibly lame, but are fortunately only at the beginning and end. Instead, there are brief interviews with the band in between tiers where they talk about the part of the band's history the game loosely covers (it ignores the druggy stuff and break-up, but that's understandable), though these are only worth seeing once.

Unfortunately, the band from Guitar Hero III makes a return as well, and are just as hideous as they were last time. There's also a second guitarist added to make the band match five people like Aerosmith, and she's just as ugly and jerky as the other characters, even if she does garner some diversity points. Another complaint is that buying guitars in the game seems kind of spotty, since I've bought a few that it won't let me use.

It's worth noting that, unlike GH III, there is no co-op career mode, which is lame. And some of the motion-cap is a little creepy, since it varies from Joe Perry's mouth barely moving like he overdosed on botox to Steven Tyler's mouth moving so loosely it looks like his lower jaw is in danger of falling off.

Also, the game has both the original and Run-DMC versions of "Walk This Way":

Walk This Way

As far as the Wii version goes, I'm sure Wii owners will be happy to hear that they didn't get shafted this time. The game is in stereo, there are a ton of special guitars I suspect weren't in Wii's GH III, and a few other additions, like extra animations for star power that I think were left out for the Wii version of GH III.

I'm not sure it's the same for all versions, but the Wii version, graphically, looks rushed and pretty bad. There have been times where the crowd or band would be heavily pixilated, making the background look worse than N64 quality.

By far the biggest complaint against the game would have to be the price, especially for the Wii version. Paying $50 for the game is kind a stretch by itself, but a $100 game/guitar controller set is not only more expense than Guitar Hero III, even when it was new, but still too expensive, especially when you consider that the controller in the Wii version isn't even wireless and doesn't really have any excuse to cost as much as the PS3 and 360 versions.

Overall, it's a pretty fun game, as long as you like Aerosmith, but it's also worth waiting for the price to come down.

I caught the early show of Joan Jett's performance at the NY State
Fair. The crowd was huge, even if a disproportionate number were
there only to hear "I Love Rock & Roll." I thought the band handled
that phenomenon fairly well. They played the song late in the set,
but not last. They didn't intro the number or play it up at all.
Then they sailed into the next, the equally sappy cover of Crimson and
Clover that the fans probably also recognized.

The rest of the show was great. It doesn't get much better than the
opening trio of "Bad Reputation", "Cherry Bomb" and "Light of Day."
Maybe the crowd wasn't all that bad because even the family guy next
to me was telling his wife and young kid that "Cherry Bomb" was
originally done by Joan's 1970's group The Runaways---the first
notable all-girl band playing their own instruments. With hot guitar
by Lita Ford and Jett, the band really did inspire the riot grlll
movement that followed.

Of course, the highlight for me was "Light of Day." The song was
written by Bruce as a favor to writer/director Paul Schrader.
Schrader had shown the working script to Bruce of a movie tentatively
titled "Born In The USA." Bruce knicked the title for a little ditty
he subsequently released, so he wrote this song for the movie as an
apology/favor to Schrader. The song was used in the movie, sung by
Joan Jett, who starred in the film with Michael J. Fox.

The new songs she played show that Joan Jett is still kicking hard and
is probably one of the best people to weather the implosion of the
record industry--after all, she was the first notable success with a
self-produced, self-released album. Her first album was rejected by
28 record companies and thus was born Blackheart Records. Rock on Joan.

One question though. Jett was born in Philly and came to stardom out
in L.A. So why did US Senator Chuck Schumer introduce her as a New
Yorker? Chuck better keep his day job.

Second question. Did Hillary Clinton get to introduce the Spinners yesterday?
