This is where I would keep my list

Every person should create a bucket list (things one should do or accomplish before their impending demise). I’m starting to create one, which indicates two things:

- I’m getting old(er)

- I’m a nerd

I don’t know if anyone has ever written guidelines about how to create a bucket list, but that would be a helpful thing. For instance, a bucket list should never be too long. If you have a list of more than 500 things to accomplish before you die, well, it’s not only difficult, but you’ll be so busy trying to check off every activity that you may not enjoy the ho-hum of life. My theory is that everyone needs a little monotony and stagnancy, which makes those special moments even that much more enjoyable.

Also, you should create a list that’s realistic. For instance, “travel to the moon” might be realistic to a billionaire or Lance Bass, but to most people it’s a crazy stretch of the imagination. However, who am I to say you shouldn’t dream big, but a bucket list should be reasonable to some degree.

I can’t reveal my whole bucket list yet (because I’ve only just begun), but here are some starters:

- Eat the best burgers that NYC can provide (here’s an article that gives me a great start, which my buddy DP mentions in his blog as well)

- Go on a cross-country excursion in an RV

- See U2 in concert

- Shake Albert Pujols hand and if possible try to get an artifact used by him (batting gloves, cap, wristband, jockstrap…)

- Travel to Ireland and have a real authentic Guinness from a local pub

Silverman presented I'm F***ing Matt Damon to Kimmel as a gift in honor of Jimmy Kimmel Live's 5th anniversary (it was originally meant to be aired in November 2007 during Kimmel's birthday show, which never happened due to the WGA strike), and uploads of the video quickly appeared on YouTube in a Lazy Sunday-esque wave.

The choice of partners is deliberate, as Jimmy Kimmel has a long-standing joke feud with Matt Damon (culminating in a rage-filled appearance in September 2006), but who knew that Matt Damon could not only rap, but bust out some 90s-dance-crew moves?

And who knew that Kimmel would raise the bar so dramatically with a follow-up featuring Damon BFF Ben Affleck? I'm F***ing Ben Affleck may start off like a cheap rip-off, but soon afterwards ups the ante, both in an artistic and cast sense: the quasi-official YouTube upload lists Robin Williams, Don Cheadle, Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, Rebecca Romijn, Benji Madden, Joel Madden, Dicky Barrett, Christopher Mintz-Plasse a.k.a. Mclovin, Lance Bass, Dominic Monaghan, Meatloaf, Pete Wentz, Joan Jett, Huey Lewis, Perry Farrell, Macy Gray and Josh Groban. Sure, there are no butterflies. But there is a "We Are The World"-esque chorus and Harrison Ford in a convertible. Advantage: Kimmel.

Of course, Silverman and Kimmel didn't work together on these shorts -- both were directed by Wayne McClammy, a Jimmy Kimmel Live segment director who's parlayed his success into exciting directing gigs. But the established nature of their relationship in the public eye is what gives these pieces the additional kick. What makes "I'm F***ing Matt Damon/Ben Affleck" so much fun is that the humor of the pieces reflect that stage in a romance when all the insecurity is gone, when both partners are so comfortable with each other that they can make these sorts of tasteless jokes. Now that they've broken up, it's just a little sad, to think of the people they are now, um, f***ing.

But maybe there's a chance they got together for one last breakup music video. Everyone knows those are always the best.

Poor Iran, honestly, I feel extremely bad for the Iranian people. Day after day, they have to watch and listen to their "commanders" prance around on television and make complete fools out of themselves. Nevertheless, it's quite astonishing that a country who just 30 years ago was a close ally of the U.S., is now trying to mess with us.

You would think people who lead a country would show some sign of being bright. Nope, not the Iranians, once they revolted in 1979 and pushed the country way back into the 10th century they became crasser than anyone could ever have imagined.

Today, the "regime" fired nine test missiles, and General Salami (the person not the meat, although with his brainpower you might be confused) said the tests were conducted in reaction to enemies that have issued "harsh words" to Iran. Oh Salami and Ahmadinejad, haven’t you ever heard the little chant, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." Just because we call you out every time you make your country sound like a country filled with bricks, doesn’t mean were going to attack you.

Iran don't you get it, you're the little Muslim country formally known as Persia that is trying to threaten the greatest world power in the world. To quote one of the worst movies known to man, "Bring it on."

Ahmadinejad, you must be a complete imbecile, you and your ayatollah cronies are just a bunch of belligerent terrorists, sure, if you mess with us we'll kick your ass, but we probably won't attack you, you’re just not worth our time and money. You guys are so backward that you make Lance Bass seem straight, you guys aren't a threat you’re a nuisance. Look if America chooses to, they'll take you out. We've done it before and aren't afraid to do it again, so now i'm warning you Iran don't mess with us.

Unless you like the idea of having your country turned into little Orlando, don't mess with us.

Last but not least, Ahmadinjad, haven't you seen "You Don't Mess With The Zohan" I mean do you really want a couple hundred thousand of those little guys running around and kicking the crap out of your people. The little nation has been around for far less time than your country and it could have kicked your ass back in 67' when they kicked the ass of 13 different Arab countries. They have either the best or 2nd best Air Force in the world, and if you actually think you can mess with them, you're already toast.

And Marky Mark. Dont be jealous.

Music certainly isn't the only thing evolving these days. I feel so fortunate to live in a progressive environment like the bay area, where conventions are challenged, change is embraced, and activism is the norm. Gay, straight, bisexual, white, black, brown, yellow, tall, short, fat, thin...we are all just people after all.

One of the pillars of anthropology that has stuck with me since college is the notion of "becoming familiar with the unfamiliar and becoming unfamiliar with the familiar." In other words, before you go judging what you don't understand because you think it's different or strange, try to understand it. And conversely, it's immensely insightful to view the things you are comfortable with from an outside perspective and realize that what you consider normal might seem quite abnormal to another person.

The traits we share are what make us human. But the traits we don't share are what make us unique. And interesting! So, let's celebrate our differences, shall we?

And there you have it! Although the road ahead is clearly a bumpy one for same sex marriage, the recent events are groundbreaking and life-changing and I, for one, am very proud of California for being in the forefront of the movement. Whether you agree or disagree with what is going on in gay rights right now, I think most of us can agree that music as we know it would not be the same without the artists mentioned above.

And thus, I salute them.

We just came from The House Of Blues on Sunset for the New Kids On The Block performance that was billed as a warm up to their Today show performance this Friday.  They sounded REALLY amazing.  Their mics were on and they sounded good!

They kicked it off with a medley consisting of; "Step By Step", "Hanging Tough", "Please Don't Go Girl", & "The Right Stuff" which included a reggae tone & latin breakdown that was phat.  They had some go go dancers as well that were pretty hot.

They then addressed the crowd and let them know they plan on playing at the Staple Center later this fall.  We will be looking forward to it.  They let the capacity crowd know that playing the old songs is fun but it's good to drop the new stuff on you as they went into their brand new song "Summertime".

They closed the show with "Tonight".

We spotted Lance Bass in the crowd.  Hmm.  Which NKOTB member is he wanting some of?  Also, we spotted talented musican Mike Scott playing guitar for them, who last toured with Justin Timberlake.-Dr.FB

The Bold and Beautiful cast in attendance were lots of fun, and Winsor Harmon may have been the boldest and most gallant. When he won the $7,800 Specialized bike with a single $10 ticket, he graciously threw the bike back into the game for a second drawing.

Lance Bass gets the biggest raves of the night, however. Unlike other "special guests" (any guesses?) who spent the evening in dark corners hunched over a Blackberry, Lance was present and engaged in the event, happily working the room, and generous with his support to make the event a huge success. (As if he weren't adorable enough already.)

Mad, mad props to Team Easton and Eleven for a great night, and to everyone who made it possible for them to exceed their fundraising goal. Have a great ride.

Today children all over our country will observe this cause and we adults should follow suit. After all, the young boy who killed Larry probably didn't create his prejudice on his own. It is critical that our entire nation works towards eradicating prejudice and discrimination of all kinds.

“Larry King e eu dividimos mais em comum do que somente nomes,” disse King durante o spot gravado, que pode ser visto no You Tube. “Nós dois acreditamos que todos os estudantes tem o direito de serem livres para serem o que são, sem medo do que serão chamadaos, sem medo de bullying ou perseguições.”

This year the Day of Silence is dedicated to Lawrence King, the 15 year old openly gay student who was gunned down by a classmate in February for being gay.

Students will hand out "Speaking Cards" which say

Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement bringing attention to the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies in schools. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by name-callinmg, bullying and harassment. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. What are you going to do to end the silence?

The 2005 National School Climate Survey by GLSEN found that 4 out of 5 LGBT students report verbal, sexual or physical harassment at school and more than 30% report missing at least a day of school in the past month out of fear for their personal safety.

It is pretty damn amazing to me that with it essentially being open season for attacks at GLBT youth that activists are too busy fighting one another to defend gay kids.

"The Bible is the word of God through the word of human beings, speaking in the idiom of their time, and the richness of the Bible comes from the fact that we don't take it as literally so that it was dictated by God," Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.

Can the love between two people ever truly be an abomination? Is the schism that separates gay and lesbian persons from Christianity destined to be always too wide to cross? How can the Bible be used to justify hatred? These are the questions that are at the heart of For The Bible Tells Me So, an exploration of the religious right's use of the Bible to justify shutting gay and lesbian people out of the faiths into which they've been born and in which they've grown up. One of the central figures in For The Bible Tells Me So is Bishop Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, the first-ever openly gay man to be elected a Bishop of the Episcopalian Church. Robinson's consecration in 2003 (at which he had to wear a bullet-proof vest due to death threats against him) was a historical occasion, but also one that caused a rift within the Episcopal church. On a more personal level, the consecration was the quintessential moment of the path on which Robinson had first embarked some 20 years earlier when, with the support of his then-wife, Isabella, he came out of the closet after years of attempting to live as a straight man and seeking counseling to rid himself of his "gay feelings."

The film explores, with various historians and religious figures, including Robinson and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the use of the Bible in the religous right's attempts to portray gay and lesbian people as being abominations against God and nature. The film seeks to both put a face on the issue of religion and gay life, and to give people dealing with family and friends who rely upon the same old Bible verses about gays a Biblical perspective of their own from which to respond. But at its heart this is a film not about historical Biblical theory, but about the real lives of families with gay and lesbian sons and daughters, and how they have reconciled their faith with their love for their children.

It also narrates the story of Chrissy Gephardt, who finally came out as a lesbian to her family just as her father, former House minority leader Richard Gephardt, was about to embark on his campaign for the Presidency. Chrissy talks about enduring a sexless marriage to a man before falling in love with a lesbian friend, admitting the truth about herself, coming out and eventually joining her father on the campaign trail, with his support and encouragement.

The film also introduces the Poteats, an African-American family in which both parents are preachers still struggling to accept that their daughter, Tonia, is a lesbian. David Poteat, Tonia's father, says in the film that when his children (a son and a daughter) were growing up, "I said God, please don't let my son grow up to be a faggot and my daughter a slut." He chuckles ironically and adds, "And he did not. He did not do that. He reversed it." The Poteat family story resonates with the unmistakable sounds of truth, love, and pain. These are parents who have struggled to accept their daughter as a lesbian, but still love her immensely and have never cut off their relationship with her. But the Poteats aren't all the way there yet. Tonia speaks longingly of a day when her parents would willingly and gladly come to her wedding with her partner. But at least they are working on it, and they haven't rejected their daughter.

The film avoids demonizing the religious right, instead simply holding up the families who are at the heart of the story and saying: Here they are. These are the gay people you so fear, and they are your sons and daughters, your brothers and sisters, the neighbors you've known for years. It speaks to the central point of the religious right's objection to homosexuality without attacking those who hold those beliefs.

For The Bible Tells Me So made its world premiere in competition at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. The film was also honored with Audience Awards at the 2007 Seattle and Provincetown International Film Festivals and The Kathleen Bryan Edwards Award for Human Rights at the 2007 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. This provocative, entertaining film concisely reconciles homosexuality and a literal interpretation of Biblical scripture. It offers healing, clarity and understanding to anyone who desperately feels caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

There were many responses to the classroom killing of Larry King in Oxnard, California, and the ongoing violence against gay people that it so tragically represented, which included the now well-known statement that was made by Ellen DeGeneres on her television program. Be A Voice Against Violence is a Public Service Announcement video calling for all of us to take a stand against violence. The video includes appearances by Ashanti, Andre 3000, TR Knight, and Janet Jackson and was also created in response to the Larry King murder:

Lance Bass says his PSA is meant to honor a California student shot to death for wearing feminine attire.

So he's made a public service announcement for the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN). The spot, which is being distributed virally Friday, debuts in advance of the 11th annual National Day of Silence on April 25, when students take a vow of silence to protest bullying, harassment and discrimination in schools.

"I think it's time for me to stand up ... and help educate, because I'm lucky enough to have been given a voice to be able to talk and grab the attention of people," said the 28-year-old singer, who's gay.

"Everyday, thousands of students are silenced. They're silenced by fear, they're silenced for being who they are. ... They're brothers, they're sisters, they're gay, they're straight, they're you, they're me."

Bass, who recently completed a stint in the Broadway musical "Hairspray" and released a memoir, said the PSA is meant to honor Lawrence King -- a 15-year-old student was shot and killed in February in Oxnard, California, by a younger boy because he arrived at school in feminine attire.

"I heard about Lawrence on the news, and it was just incredible to me that kids that age that would have such an issue ... with the subject of being gay," said Bass, who was part of the boy band 'N Sync. "It also shows me that these kids don't -- they don't learn (bigotry) on their own. ... They're being told by older siblings or family members or other fellow students."

Bass -- who joined 'N Sync in 1995 with Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick -- announced in July 2006 that he's gay. It took him a while to come out. ('N Sync went on hiatus in 2002 and has virtually disbanded now that Justin Timberlake's career has taken off.)

"I was very scared of ruining my four best friends' careers," he said. "The ignorance in me thought that if I did reveal that, that our whole life would crash and the group would end because everyone would hate us. But now I see how stupid that was, and I wish I could go back and be able to tell the world who I really was.

"And I think it would have been fine. My fans have always still stood by me, and they haven't changed. And I think it would have been great to be able to come out (at) the height of like the 'N Sync heyday -- I think it could have helped a lot of people."

I don't know what it is, but for some reason, I've had the feeling of really wanting to either bash someone's face in, or just hit something repeatedly really really hard. I dunno . . . Maybe it's . . . Ya know . . . No? Well, me neither. =P I decided to work off my rage at the gym. Hey, be proud of me, I worked out for an hour and a half! But it didn't really help. Grrr . . . Good night everybody!

I honestly thought that I was gonna have an okay day . . . But I guess I was wrong!!!

First, I had an uber lame World History Mid-term . . . which I had studied my ASS OFF for last night . . . Only to get, what else, test anxiety in the middle of the freaking test!!! 2 Essays, 1 Hour, 3 Sources, NO OPEN BOOK!!! WHY????

Oh, but it gets better!!!

Every Thursday, my History teacher assigns us Essays to give in and she gives back the essays from the previous week at the end of class . . . Well, guess whos essay she didn't have? Yup, that's right! MINE!!! I guess it is my fault for not passing it up with the rest of the class and just plopping it on her desk at the end of class, but if someone had TURNED AROUND AND ASKED FOR IT - you know who you are - then there wouldn't have been any problems!!! So, I told her that I could print out another copy and give it to her on Monday, and she said that she would look for it . . . But that I can't get full credit because  it's late . . .
