<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I've been listening to podcasts for about 18 months now. It started with just the one. Then, before I knew it, there was another, and another. Currently there are 6 I listen to on a regular basis, with a few more that I dip into. However, these are all entertainment ones - given that it's me that we're talking about, the usual content is robots/spaceships/wizards/zombies/mysterious tropical islands with polar bears on; they're generally not concerned with libraries. So I was interested to see what this week's activities would be about. I've had a listen to the library podcast that we offer, and the new one that's in progress, and they're pretty good. I think that they're a useful thing for us to be providing; when you think that most students will probably have an mp3 player, offering them content in this way has to be a good thing. </p>
<p>I've got a bloglines account, so I've been using that to keep track of podcasts. It's getting to be a bit of a pain downloading them though, so I thought trying a podcatcher might be a good thing to do. I downloaded <a href="http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/">iTunes</a>, and more or less disliked it on sight. I mean, it's pretty and everything, but I don't really listen to music much, so I don't really need links to the the iTunes store. I don't have an iPod, so I can't sync my mp3 player with iTunes. There's nowhere to import feeds to. And when it finally does subscribe you to the feeds that you want, it puts them in a set of folders which are fine if you're using the whole thing and want to keep tv shows, movies, podcasts and music separate, but are less than helpful if you want to just do podcasts. So I gave up and looked for something else! I ended up with <a href="http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/faq/index.php">Juice</a>, which is a lot simpler and lets me specify the folder I want to use. My mp3 player is essentially a flash drive, so I can set it up to download to there and I'm sorted. Much better. (Note: I don't think Juice is being updated any more, but for the moment it does what I want how I want, so I'm happy. Feel free to suggest something else for me to use!)</p>
<p>To try and avoid making this the longest blog post in history, I've added a video to a <a href="http://debbiephillips.wordpress.com/2008/09/05/posting-multimedia/">separate post</a>, which is really easy! I can see how youtube, and videos in general, could be a really useful resource for us. We could, for example, make a video tour of the library. Not only would this be useful for new students who can't make it to a library induction, it would also help us show off the new ground floor to returning students and staff. </p>
<p>The session yesterday with John Conway was very informative. I hadn't realised that so much could be done with such ease. There are definite applications here for us. We could put little bits into Olivia about searching the catalogue, or databases - it's much easier to get an understanding of what's going on when you actually see it happening. We could maybe put some of the training sessions that we do up online somewhere too, and that might reach students who don't want to come to library sessions, but still might need a bit of help.</p>

Så här, om man köper lite extra utrymme på Wordpress, då kan man ladda upp eget ljud och det hela lägger sig fint i inläggen.<br />
Men om man som den här, inte har något extra allt, utan kör med originalversionen, gratisversionen, så får man vara lite street-smart.<br />
Och det är ju lätt att vara när man har konto på maclabbet.se (som eleverna här har).</p>
<p>1. Fixa musiken (som du gjort själv, inget olagligt nu) eller pratet eller podcasten och spara den som en mp3-fil. I det här fallet så kan den heta typ "song22.mp3".</p>
<p>2. Gör en ny mapp i din mapp "webbsidor" på din användare på maclabbet.se. I det här exemplet får mappen heta "wp-ljud".  Lägg över mp3-filen där.</p>
<p>3. Ta fram sidan där du skriver ett nytt inlägg här i Wordpress. Ändra från visuell till html på den där raden ovanför inläggningsrutan där det står Lägg till media.</p>
<p>4. Skriv in hela länken till din mp3-fil som så här, i inläggsrutan:</p>

<p>Jo, prylen är att man använder sig av gratistjänsterna på fränt sätt. Med konto på Flickr och Wordpress och ett mobiltelefonabonnemang så kan man göra följande:</p>
<p>1. Ta en bild med sin mobil.</p>
<p>2. Skicka den via MMS (2.25 kr), till en särskild e-postadress som är knuten till ens Flickr-konto.</p>
<p>3. Vänta någon halvminut tills den skickats till Flickr i US of A. Och så vänta tre andetag tills bilden hamnar som ett inlägg i ens egen Wordpressblogg. Från Flickr till Wordpress med automatik alltså.</p>

<p class="Default" style="text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span> </span>Multimedia  adalah  media  yang  menggabungkan  dua  unsur  atau  lebih  media  yang  terdiri  dari  teks,  grafis,  gambar,  foto,  <em>audio,  video</em>  dan  animasi  secara  terintegrasi.  Multimedia  terbagi  menjadi  dua  kategori,  yaitu:  <strong>multimedia  linier  </strong>dan<strong>  multimedia  interaktif. </strong></span></span></p>
<p class="Default" style="text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span> </span>Multimedia  linier  adalah  suatu  multimedia  yang  tidak  dilengkapi  dengan  alat  pengontrol  apapun  yang  dapat  dioperasikan  oleh  penguna.  Multimedia  ini  berjalan  sekuensial  (berurutan),  contohnya:  TV  dan  film. </span></span></p>
<p class="Default" style="text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span> </span>Multimedia  interaktif  adalah  suatu  multimedia  yang  dilengkapi  dengan  alat  pengontrol  yang  dapat  dioperasikan  oleh  pengguna,  sehingga  pengguna  dapat  memilih  apa  yang  dikehendaki  untuk  proses  selanjutnya.  Contoh  multimedia  interaktif  adalah:  multimedia  pembelajaran  interaktif,  aplikasi  game,  dll. </span></span></p>
<p class="Default" style="text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:&#34;">Sedangkan  pembelajaran  diartikan  sebagai  proses  penciptaan  lingkungan  yang  memungkinkan  terjadinya  proses  belajar.  Jadi  dalam  pembelajaran  yang  utama  adalah  bagaimana  siswa  belajar.  Belajar  dalam  pengertian  aktifitas  mental  siswa  dalam  berinteraksi  dengan  lingkungan  yang  menghasilkan  perubahan  perilaku  yangbersifat  relatif  konstan.  Dengan  demikian  aspek  yang  menjadi  penting  dalam  aktifitas  belajar  adalah  lingkungan.  Bagaimana  lingkungan  ini  diciptakan  dengan  menata  unsur</span><span style="font-family:Arial;">‐</span><span style="font-family:&#34;">unsurnya  sehingga  dapat  mengubah  perilaku  siswa.  Dari  uraian  di  atas,  apabila  kedua  konsep  tersebut  kita  gabungkan  maka  multimedia  pembelajaran  dapat  diartikan  sebagai  aplikasi  multimedia  yang  dignakan  dalam  proses  pembelajran,  dengan  kata  lain  untuk  menyalurkan  pesan  (pengetahuan,  keterampilan  dan  sikap)  serta  dapat  merangsang  piliran,  perasaan,  perhatian  dan  kemauan  yang  belajar  sehingga  secara  sengaja  proses  belajar  terjadi,  bertujuan  dan  terkendali. </span></span></p>

<p class="Default" style="text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Secara  umum  manfaat  yang  dapat  diperoleh  adalah  proses  pembelajaran  lebih  menarik,  lebih  interaktif,  jumlah  waktu  mengajar  dapat  dikurangi,  kualitas  belajar  siswa  dapat  ditingkatkan  dan  prises  belajar  mengajar  dapat  dilakukan  di  mana  dan  kapan  saja,  serta  sikap  belajar  siswa  dapat  ditingkatkan. </span></span></p>
<p class="Default" style="text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Manfaat  di  atas  akan  diperoleh  mengingat  terdapat  keunggulan  dari  sebuah  multimedia  pembelajaran,  yaitu: </span></span></p>

<p class="Default" style="text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Sebagai  salah  satu  komponen  sistem  pembelajaran,  pemilihan  dan  penggunaan  multimedia  pembelajaran  harus  memperhatikan  karakteristik  komponen  lain,  seperti:  tujuan,  materi,  strategi  dan  juga  evaluasi  pembelajaran.<span>  </span>   </span></span></p>
<p class="Default" style="text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Karakteristik  multimedia  pembelajaran  adalah: </span></span></p>

<p class="Default" style="text-indent:-18pt;text-align:justify;margin:5pt 0 5pt 36pt;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span>      </span>Format  sajian  ini  merupakan  multimedia  pembelajaran  yang  dalam  penyampaian  materinya  dilakukan  secara  tutorial,  sebagaimana  layaknya  tutorial  yang  dilakukan  oleh  guru  atau  instruktur.  Informasi  yang  berisi  suatu  konsep  disajikan  dengan  teks,  gambar,  baik  diam  atau  bergerak  dan  grafik.  Pada  saat  yang  tepat,  yaitu  ketika  dianggap  bahwa  pengguna  telah  membaca,  menginterpretasikan   dan  menyerap  konsep  itu,  diajukan  serangkaian  pertanyaan  atau  tugas.  Jika  jawaban  atau  respon  pengguna  benar,  kemudian  dilanjutkan  dengan  materi  berikutnya.  Jika  jawaban  atau  respon  pengguna  salah,  maka  pengguna  harus  mengulang  memahami  konsep  tersebut  secara  keseluruhan  ataupun  pada  bagian</span><span style="font-family:Arial;">‐</span><span style="font-family:&#34;">bagian  tertentu  saja  <em>(remedial).</em>  Kemudian  pada  bahagian  akhir  biasanya  akan  diberikan  serangkaian  pertanyaaan  yang  merupakan  tes  untuk  mengukur  tingkat  pemahamn  pengguna  atas  konsep  atau  materi  yang  disampaikan. </span></span></p>

<p>Just this past weekend while sipping coffee and soaking up the late-summer sun in my hometown of Santa Cruz, California, I met up with <a href="http://karenkefauver.com/">Karen Kefauver</a>, an experienced adventure travel writer with a growing interest in new media. Karen, who I had connected with through my first post on Written Road, was heading off to Peru and Brazil for a few months, and was seeking advice on buying a camera.</p>
<p>“I don’t mind buying the right equipment,” she reiterated several times, “but I need to keep my stuff down to one bag.”</p>
<p>Karen’s initial itinerary read something like a death wish—whitewater rafting, mountain biking steep singletrack, tromping through the jungle—(everything one should be doing while traveling), and further complicated the situation of keeping things simple.</p>
<p>“Think small,” I first told her. “Buying a fairly high-end pocket digital camera would allow you to take clean video while capturing high-quality photographs. You won’t have to lug around a Digital SLR and video camera while trying to pull your butt up a steep climb,” I explained.</p>
<p>When Karen mentioned she was heading into the rainforest, we started to discuss cameras that shoot well in low light. Double A batteries vs. rechargeable and moisture issues were next on the list, finished with price.</p>
<p>In the end we decided the <a href="http://reviews.cnet.com/Canon_PowerShot_SD_850_IS/4660-6501_7-6763807.html">Canon SD 850 IS</a> was one of her best choices. I have used the camera for just over a year, and the images are stunning to say the least. Video from the camera has wound up in a variety of projects, and I even dropped the little guy going 20 mph while riding my bike. Minus the huge scratch on the LCD (the only proof it hit the pavement) the camera is in nearly perfect condition and still works like a charm.</p>
<p>But the biggest plus—and the central theme of our conversation—was that the camera makes it easy to keep things simple. Without having to fiddle with multiple lenses, batteries, chargers and memory cards, Karen could do what she was there to do: Experience, internalize, and capture.</p>
<p>As for the rest of our conversation here are a few travel writing gems from Karen: (paraphrasing of course)</p>
<p>•      If you are starting out, think big, but write as much as you can.<br />
•      Find a niche you are passionate about and work towards producing the best writing possible.<br />
•      Take risks, even if they could spell disaster.<br />
•	Writing takes time and you can’t rush it.<br />
•	Network, network, network.<br />
•	Be willing to ask for help and then help others when you can.<br />
•      Remember to keep it simple.</p>

<p>Il est annoncé par Google comme <em>"un nouveau navigateur qui va changer le Web (…) Il sera capable de faire tourner les applications de demain."</em></p>
<p>Ce navigateur est <strong>100% open source</strong>, Google vient de lancer depuis mardi soir une version bêta de leur navigateur disponible en 43 langues. Ce navigateur à été présenté comme <strong>simple et épuré</strong> à l'image de la <strong>sobriété de l'interface du moteur Google.</strong></p>
<p>Une nouveauté, <strong>L'omnibox</strong>, qui consiste à <strong>fusionner la barre d'adresse et le champ de recherche</strong>, ainsi l'internaute n'a plus qu'a taper quelques lettres pour voir s'afficher en suggestion les adresses Web les plus populaires susceptibles de répondre à sa requête.</p>
