Through the years, fashion has reverted back to the fifties, sixties and seventies.  In fall of 2008, we’re going back nearly an entire millennium.  We’re heading back to the twenties.  Yes, that’s right, to the decade of flirting and flappers.  Be prepared for lots of shaking and shimmying this season, with fringe appearing on most everything.

Designers such as Prada and Fendi are showing off fringe dresses, while shoe designers Steve Madden and Sam Edelman are creating fringe boots.  

It’s easy to get lost in a fringe dress.  Keep it short and simple, and don’t let it drown out your body.  Make sure it’s snug and hits your body in all the right places, the way Carmen Electra pulled off this blue fringe dress.  

If a fringe dress is too much, keep it simpler in a fringe skirt.  These can be paired with a nice sweater and a pair of tights and boots to keep it classic for fall.  Fendi’s high waist fringe skirt is a great look to try out.

If a fringe skirt even seems like too much but you still want to embrace this style, shoes and bags are your best friends for this fall.  Wear a pair of fringe boots over jeans during the day, or try a pair of fringe heels like Steve Madden’s to spice up any nighttime outfit. 

Shake your way through this popular trend this fall and don’t forget to have fun with it!

Earlier, I had posted some specs from UnWired View. A lot of them are confirmed by BGR. However, there are a couple notable exceptions, namely the Mobile TV feature and the touchscreen. In these days of touchscreen devices, I believe that touchscreen is essential for a high-end smartphone to be successful. So, lets hope LG includes it, despite the QWERTY keyboard, otherwise, this product is pretty much toast.

Magazine Pop got has been caught by the tendency too displaying many covers of the same edition dedicated to the Prada collection. The magazine suggested the provocative religious characters interpreted by famous top models like Naomi Campbell, Nadia Vodianova, Jourdan Dunn, Amber Valletta, all playing with their “pretend to be” religious side.

...a time capsule that is superficially depressing and artistically enriching all at once!

 I have to say, I'm a little amazed that I am finding out about this fashion world inspired art project so many years after the fact. Conceptually, this project is right up my alley.

Prada Marfa is an piece of sculptural art created by German artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset. It is located in the desert on a long desolate stretch of Highway 90 outside Marfa Texas. The 25X15 foot building was built in 2005, and is a realistic facsimile of other contempory Prada stores. In fact, once constructed it was fully stocked with the entire Fall 2005 line of women's shoes and handbags.

This is no ordinary Prada store though. In fact, Prada Marfa has never opened. Once it was finished, the doors were locked and a "Closed" sign was put up. It has exsisted in permanent stasis ever since as a sort of time capsule, as well as a statement on extreme modern consumerism. As intended by the artists, no upkeep or repairs have been made to the structure. It will eventually degrade and be absorbed back into the surrounding desert.

What a surreal sight it must be for those who accidentally stumble upon all those sad, sad shoes slowly going out of style within what (by now) must be a graffiti covered, sun bleached shack....

Take for instance, Mayor John Molony, of Mount Isa, deep in the Queensland territory of Australia.  He decided a good initiative to combat the dearth of women in the small mining town would be to encourage “beauty disadvantaged sheilas” to come to Mount Isa.

Translation:  “Since all of you ugly ducklings are not getting much play elsewhere, why not come to Mount Isa where the men are quite desperate and will give you a chance.”

Ironies of ironies, women actually make up 47% of the Mount Isa population.  I guess Molony also has his own definition of dearth. 

But his brilliance does not stop there.  Molony points to the women already living in Mount Isa to show that the town is really serious about welcoming the beauty disadvantaged.  "Quite often you will see walking down the street a lass who is not so attractive with a wide smile on her face." "Whether it is recollection of something previous or anticipation for the next evening, there is a degree of happiness”.

Classic.

But what can you say to Molony?  At least, he’s welcoming those society has deemed to not be beautiful.

Well, that’s certainly more than you can say for the fashion industry which does not hire black models or any other minorities for that matter, because, they “are not aspirational” or “they do not sell”.  There have been attempts made to “combat” this malaise, like the “oh-so-not patronizing dressing of African models in African-inspired wear”.

Translation:  “Well, we don’t think you’ll sell any magazines but we’ll give you a chance and dress you in what we consider to be the traditional wear where you’re from.  Nevermind, you don’t actually wear only beads and bangles when you’re in your country.  Just put this on and stand beside the lion”.

Classic.

So what finally happens to combat that?  Vogue Italia with its “All Black” issue.  Except this is not a work of solidarity in the fashion industry.  Rather, it’s the work of editor, Franca Sozzani and photographer, Steven Meisel.  Not only do they call on the lithe Imans and Liyas and Aleks but they also have the Toccaras or well, just actually, just one Toccara but it’s a good start.

The issue also shows how far the fashion industry has to go.  Right next to the features are ads for Valentino, Gucci, Prada and Dolce and Gabbana, none with minority models.

Classic.

For the premier of Pupi Avati’s movie she wore a black trimmed with lace dress from the fall winter 2008/09 Prada collection that is going to dominate next cold season.

Nonetheless, while waiting in queue last night, I finally got down to reading US Vogue (September) and imagine my delight when the first thing I saw were the incredible boots from Prada.

Back to the boots, they are pure evil. Just look at them!

Sadly, I am not able to find a better picture that shows off their sexy cutouts. Boots are deemed almost ridiculous where I live so I have never owned a pair, apart from the bootie. But even that doesn't qualify! It's been raining so hard and the weather's cool enough for some boot-dreaming..

Though we love a sinfully smoky eye, we have been dying for super simple beauty trends. Apparently the beauty goddesses have heard our prayers and have answered with runway shows – Calvin Klein, Prada, Stella McCartney, Valentino -- chock full of au naturale. Heavenly!

Each show had the same qualities in common: fresh, glowing skin and features illuminated by golden and nude palettes.

Get this super natural look in a few easy steps.

What you’ll need:

•    Mineral foundation
•    Champagne colored shadow
•    A coat of mascara
•    Berry blush
•    Rosebud salve or sheer lipstick

How to:

•    Face: Fresh skin cannot be faked. Ultimately, it is the end result of an excellent cleansing and moisturizing routine.  Make sure you use a good cleanser, SPF moisturizer for day and a treatment night cream daily. Great skin is the perfect jump off for a light dusting of mineral foundation. Maybe a little concealer if you really need it.

•    Eyes: Runway eyes were nearly naked. A coat of mascara was all. Some took it a bit further with a champagne colored pop from lashes to brow bone.

•    Cheeks: Here’s where the color comes in. A berry colored blush works on nearly any skin tone gives that healthy “just got your cheeks pinched” flush.

•    Lips: You can go your own way here but keep it simple – a nude lipstick, dollop of sheer gloss, or a simple dab of some good old fashioned Rose Bud salve.

Nach den jahrelangen Streitereien zwischen Sander und Bertelli bei Prada, unglücklichen Designer-Anstellungen, schien die einst in Hamburg gegründete Firma unter Raf Simons als Kreativdirektor und den Briten als Finanzgeber endlich auf dem richtigen Pfad. Jil Sander ist raus aus den roten Zahlen, aber längst noch nicht über den Berg. Gerade im Bekanntheitsgrad der Marke gibt es noch viel zu tun. Verbrannte Erde muss neu beflanzt werden. Es bleibt zu hoffen, dass – nachdem die Briten nun Kasse gemacht haben – die Japaner ihre Politik weiterführen.

O editorial se divide sem dúvida entre glamour e elegância, mas, é curiosa a maneira como os editores brincaram com os cenários, as poses e os complementos. Fica mais um editorial exaltando a modernidade, o glamour e a elegância em excesso, mesmo que em situações um tanto pitorescas.

I have been reading some of the fall fashion magazines and one thing that caught my eye was the architectural illusion of the pump. Everyone from environmentally sound Stella McCartney to Louis Vuitton have designed these heels that remind me of great modern buildings around the world.

Fashion house Jil Sander AG, a maker of luxury ready-to-wear clothing for men and women, will be sold to a Japanese apparel group, the private equity firm that owns it said Monday.

In a statement, Change Capital Partners said it reached a deal to sell Jil Sander to Tokyo-based Onward Holdings Co. Ltd and its European subsidiary GIBO Co. SpA for €167 million (US$244.2 million).

The deal comes after Hamburg-based Jil Sander orchestrated a turnaround since 2005, with operating profit reaching €6.1 million in 2007 compared with a loss of €12.9 million in 2005 as it expanded its distribution networks in the U.S., Europe and Japan, and opened more stores.

Change Capital acquired Jil Sander in 2006 from Prada.

Prada Marfa, a faux fashion boutique on the outskirts of Valentine, Texas is not a boutique at all. Its walls and shelves may be decked out with high-end bags and shoes, but they will never meet a hopeful buyer. Prada Marfa is not a Prada store, but a sealed time capsule randomly placed along a lonely stretch of U.S. Highway 90 as if a mirage of consumerist America.

Scandanavian artists, Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset built the faux store in 2005 with partial funding from the Prada Foundation. The doors remained sealed and the product line hasn't changed since the sculpture's installation... in a way the sculpture itself is a mini museum for Prada's 2005 bag and shoe lines. The minimalist Land Art sculpture by the duo known for their white cubing opened for your uninhibited window gawking on October 1st of 2005.
