“Mari Kita Beraktivism-Let’s Be an Activist” for sale now!

Launched on the 16th May 2008, the compilation of short engaging human rights films premiered to a packed gallery in Annexe, Central Market.

The documentary series follows three ordinary yet distinctive personalities whose lives were transformed by their own experiences of human rights violations in “Bestlah Punk”, “Binatang Pun Perlu Tanah” and “No Damn Right”. All films are subtitled in English.

“Very inspirational films. I felt especially emotional when I saw that the indigenous stood up for their ancestral land rights,” commented a viewer, on “Binatang Pun Perlu Tanah”.

“The background music…the stylish editing makes it very appealing to the youth. In “Bestlah Punk”, it’s encouraging to see these youths trying to make an impact in the society they live in.”

“I’m inspired by the courage that Saari Sungib (profiled in “No Damn Right”) and his wife displayed throughout the time when he was an ISA (Internal Security Act) detainee. Touching yet informative.”

Much encouraged by the positive feedback, KOMAS believes that this powerful medium (film) can truly educate and empower its viewers effectively unlike any other medium. Other than raising the public’s awareness on human rights issues in Malaysia, these films act as a springboard to generate meaningful discussions among its viewers. Do refer to the attached flyer for a synopsis of the films.

The director of these films, Anna Har, is an award winning director with more than ten years of experience in the media industry.

She is the creative director for numerous successful infotainment TV programs on Malaysian TV such as “3R:Respect Relax Respond”. She works as a regional consultant /trainer for setting up TV programs and as well as community based video centres.

She sits on the board of KOMAS, a popular communications centre that works with marginalised and civil society groups towards the attainment of human rights. She is currently co-partner of her own independent production outfit, Big Pictures Production.

Uma nova pratica criminosa na internet está no ar. O bode expiatório da vez são os Correios, que estão em greve há quase 20 dias.

Os criminosos enviam um e-mail, com códigos maliciosos informando o internauta que tem um Sedex para receber, porém a encomenda está parada por causa da greve.

O email solicita para que o leitor do e-mail clique no link para baixar um arquivo no seu computador e acompanhar a entrega. Porém, é aí que está o vírus que invade o seu computador, no momento do download.

Estes códigos maliciosos servem para roubar dados importantes e até pessoais que você tenha no seu computador como senhas bancárias ou documentos, além de infectar o sistema operacional.

Os Correios informaram que nunca enviaram e-mail ou telegramas  sem solicitação dos clientes, exceto aos cadastros prévios no sistema da emrpesa.

A empresa alerta que qualquer e-mail enviado em nome dos Correiros sem solicitação, deve ser apagado imediatamente.

It’s a good day, today. You know why? Because of you and many others actually to be precise 50,883 or less has been on my blog. For me it’s really cool.

Therefore I got a picture of Winston Churchill on the post, the man that is known for his prime minister time in the World War II in the UK. For the single reason too celebrate the victory of 50 000 hits since February 2008 for As Silent As the Pope08. Thanks a lot! All the comments I’ve getting from unknown people that they want to affiliated themselves with me. For the same purpose: To update us and learn from each other. The support has been great. Not even to mention the readers that given back commentary on a lot of post. I’m getting a lot of spam too. Therefore I’m having the filter secure what kind of comments getting out. Viagra pills and fake rolex watches doesn’t fit in. You dig?

Ja so ist es manchmal im Leben

Das war ein Gedicht, welches heute in meinem Posteingang landete. Jeden Tag bekomm ich sowas und ich  möchte echt wissen welcher Dienst meine eMail-Adresse weiterverkauft hat an diese Erotikindustrie-Spammer. Ich würde mich bei ihm bedanken. Ist doch geil so ein Spam. Ich lese das total gerne. Ganz im Gegensatz zu den "Blaues Wunder in Pillenformat"-Mails die sofort gelöscht werden wenn sie den durch den Spamfilter einer meiner fünf eMail-adressen kommen.

Ich finde die Texte so kreativ, dass ich seitdem einen ganz anderen Bezug zu Spam hab. Mir ist bewußt geworden, das da schlechte unkreative und eben einen jobbrauchenden Hobbypoeten Menschen dahinter stecken. Zweitere Spezies leider zu wenig. Diese raren aber aufheiternden Mails haben bei mir bereits einen eigenen Ablageplatz. Am 19.8 ist es genau ein Jahr seit dem der Ordner "kreativspam" mit seiner ersten, ganz anderen Spamvariante gefüllt worden ist. Eine zierliche Waldfee suchte damals ihren Prinzen.

Würde mich selber auch gerne wieder mal verzaubern lassen, wer weiss, vielleicht von Dir? Deswegen versuche ich mal mein Glück auf diesem Weg.

Last week summary

1. 1st week as a freshie (yet again). Cool stuffs have been going on and a hectic week I would say. All of us were trying to adjust the new environment. Nonetheless, a great week personally but not so great for the bolehland. Minggu yang menghabiskan duit aku je.

3. About the debate between Shabbery and DSAI. There's an obvious winner. Not in the aspect of solutions for the oil price, but the way people conduct themselves. Tak payah ar main-main serangan peribadi, x pro langsung.
4. News for the Gooners, Hleb and Gilberto left us. For Gilberto, our world class DM, thanks for your work. Personally you're more effective than Flamoney, and as for Aliaksandr Paŭlavič Hleb, good luck at Nou Camp. Just a reminder, prepare yourself for the ex-gunners jinx. Pagi tadi Arsenal vs Barnet. De ahí en adelante el asunto es saber con qué tipo de personas se encuentran los 10 personajes necesitados de plata fácil....

CONCLUSIÓN: NO MANDEN CADENAS DEJANDO SUS CONTACTOS EN "PARA" (To) O EN "CC". ¿POR QUÉ? PORQUE DE ESA MANERA PERSONAS COMO EL SEÑOR OUMAR BAKO (VAYA A SABER UNO QUIÉN O QUIÉNES SON Y DE DÓNDE) UTILIZA LOS MILES DE E-MAILS QUE DEBE TENER Y LOS USA PARA CAPTURAR ESE 1% QUE PROBABLEMENTE CREERÁN Y CAERÁN EN ALGUNA ESTAFA. LA IDEA ES CORTAR CADENAS, PERO SI NO PUEDEN RESISTIRSE A QUE LA MALA SUERTE LES CAERÁ (pff!), ENTONCES POR ÚLTIMO DEJEN SUS CONTACTOS "Ocultos", EN "CCO" (Bcc) (CUANDO LE DAN "RESPONDER" (Reply)).

Maldito SPAM!

Spam is the single most annoying thing of the internet. Being so widespread, it is no exaggeration to say  that it can bring the web to a halt. When it comes to email, this statement is as close to truth as it can get.

Needless to say that there is no truly efficient antispam technique. And the reason I write this post, is just to declare provocatively, we need none.

Let me explain: Most of the spam fighting efforts are focusing on blocking the spammer's way. We care about not letting them send mail messages or bait trackbacks to our blogposts, to deter them from faking twitter followers or friendfeed commenters.

As every crime story lover knows, what betrays the murderer is the motive. When it comes to spam, if we exclude pure malice, the motive is always one: to advertise.  In the end of the spam trail, always lies a legitimate or semi-legitimate 'business', that wants to attract customers. And there is where the collective antispamming effort has to focus.  Fighting down those who benefit from spam, fights down the financing of spam, and therefore spam itself.

 This kind of approach to fighting spam entails three levels of envolvement. The individual's level, the community's level and the authorities level.

• The individual's responsibility is to bring to the attention of the community the existence of a spammer.
• The community's responsibility is to expose the benefiting party and create a negative publicity for it that counterweights the whatever benefits of spamming.
• The authorities' responsibility is, first to pass legislation that makes such an activity illegal, and then, aided by the community reproach,  to crack it down with whatever means.

At least, for the authorities of the countries of the world, this would be a welcome new activity next to their favorite passtimes of chasing bit torrents, cracking down free speach, and wiretapping conversations.

Is it too much hard to say Hi in the first of the email. It's light, it's nice, it shows friendliness, it doesn't promote a non-existent affection, it's perfect. I cannot see a better word than this to start an email.

Emails, by their nature, do not express our feelings, so an email that we think is very normal, the other person might think it's offensive or you're passing subtle meanings, or... That's why we should be careful when writing an email, and trust me, when I'm frustrated with someone, the last thing I want to see the email starting with is my first name or Dear my first name. I really want to know who is this idiot who promoted the Dear thing in the email. It was the Dear word that probably made some people revolt and start the email with the first name.

Even the spammers say hi or hello when they start their: "I'm a 25 year old lonely girl living in your area..." email.

Start your emails with Hi, and your days will be brighter.
